Entering College

Hey guys this is my first post. I hope I'm not breaking the rules, I am a senior in High School (not in college yet). But I was wondering what the college social life entails for faith oriented people such as ourselves. Can anyone give me an insight or heads up to that?

Well, I think it depends a whole lot on what kind of school you go to or where it's located. In my case, I'm attending a liberal arts school in the Bible belt. If only I had known what the definition of "liberal arts" was....
It is certainly not Christian-friendly. Surprisingly, I have met no one of another religion. Everyone else is atheist/agnostic or similar. The campus heavily promotes feminism, homosexuality, and opposes Christian-related things. However, there is a haven. It's the Baptist Student Union. I'm not Baptist, but it doesn't matter. I met a lot of awesome Christians there, and realized that there are little pockets of Christians, but many of them are too timid to live out their lives as a Christian, or decide that since "acceptance of everything" is the theme here, that they should be more open-minded. Be very careful of that. Find a solid church as soon as you get there - don't think it's okay to wait. Research churches before you go, (assuming you're moving). http://www.churchangel.com is a wonderful site. Write to churches to find out more. That's what I did, and prayed about it, and I only went to one church and knew it was right for me. Make sure you go your very first Sunday there. I think that made a major difference for me. The first few weeks are very trying on your spirit. But just remember also - college is an opportunity to flat-out witness to people - oftentimes your professor in front of a huge class. Just stick with Jesus to keep your confidence to do that type thing.

Thanks for the insite, it will be helpful in my adjustment in the next year.

Allow me to speak up for the Christian Private schools. We aren't much better. Yes, the Christians are less timid about where they stand, but we have the same issues a public school does. Plus, being a Christian college, we have a body of Christians more interested in Theological correctness and debates, than the salvation of our lost class mates. We do have a more powerful body of Christians than a public campus, but we have to convince the majority of them to keep the theology to minimum. In the end though, I'm quite glad I came to the school.
