Bible Study EPHESIANS VERSE 2

Paul, writting under the insperation of the Holy Ghost, opens most of his epistles with the Exact same words. In 1st Tim, 2Tim, and Titus he changes slightly and adds the word mercy. Im not 100% sure he wrote the book of Hebrews. He may have but these words are not in the opening of Hebrews.

Grace.....This word is used often and throughout scripture. The Grace of god is precious and amazing.

Peace....The peace of God is in knowing we no longer have to work for our Salvation and we have peace to rest in him. There will be no peace in us in this world as we struggle with our sinfull nature in the flesh. The peace is to rest entirely in him, and cannot be put into mere words. It must be Given to you.

Paul states Grace and peace come from God the father and from Jesus Christ the Lord. Both are God.

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, Ephesians 2:8

Beautiful verse.

I find it interesting to note that two important factors are at work in our salvation, grace and faith.

Awesome.

I notice in this verse something fascinating as well, as it reads -

For by election you have been saved through predestination...

Oh wait, that's a typo, scratch that from the record. Also let the jury erase that from their minds.

Sorry, my bad! :dunno

What I meant to say is -

For by grace you have been saved through faith ...

Great stuff. Amen.

God Bless you.

Faith that does not give all the honor of Salvation to Christ is not Saving faith. Christ puts such honor on faith because true faith puts all Honor on him.
Luke 18:42 says "Thy faith has saved thee. Faith does not keep the law for me. Christ did. Faith did not die on the cross for me. Christ did. Faith was not raised from the dead. Christ was. Saving faith puts all the honor on Christ and the Lord put such honor on his saving faith. Yes Faith that honors only him is Saving faith. There is no other way. Blessings to you..............

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of thing not seen. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. Hebrews 11:1-2
Paul talks about the faith of many of the ancient people from Able to the Christians that were victims of the Romans in chapter 11. Faith comes from believing in God and trusting in God. In order to receive the Grace of God, one must first believe that Christ was the Son of God and confess their sins believing they would be forgiven. Faith is very important. Faith is what helps every Christian live for Christ. Without faith, we are without the Grace of God.

13 For "whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."

A person must choose to call on the name of the Lord.

14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?

A person must choose to believe Jesus is Lord in order to call on Him.

A preach must choose to preach the Gospel.

15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!"

A person much choose to go, when the Lord sends them.

16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed our report?" 17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 19:13-17

Some will choose not to obey when they hear the Gospel.

Hi Brother josefnospam. The following may help you in believing Paul did or did not write Hebrews.

Paul authored the following fourteen books of the New Testament which are considered "His gospel," though he didn't personally write all of them. Many don't attribute the "Epistle of Hebrews" to the Apostle Paul, but 2 Thessalonians 3:17-18 says, "The salutation of Paul with mine own hand, which is the token in every epistle: so I write. (18) The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen." This is the way Paul signed off in his letters to these different churches, and Hebrews 13:25 closes with "Grace be with you all. Amen." And then in Hebrews 10:34 says "For ye had compassion of me in my bonds." To me and others, these indicate Paul authored Hebrews.

grandma dolittle: Yes, it's 'by grace through faith'.

Hebrews 11 is a great chapter.

Blessings.
