Encouraged to Abort: Why Erin Chose Life​

At 14 weeks into her pregnancy, Erin received heartbreaking news: her baby boy, Devin, was diagnosed with spina bifida. Doctors repeatedly urged her to consider ending his life, insisting his condition would be severe and his life painfully difficult.

But Erin chose life.

She faced immense fear and uncertainty. The words of doctors echoed in her mind daily, highlighting the struggles ahead, the sleepless nights, countless doctor visits, and emotional strain. Yet, through it all, Erin leaned deeply into her faith, clinging to the promise that every life, however brief or challenging, is a sacred gift from God. Her prayers were filled with hope and courage, asking for strength to embrace whatever lay ahead.

In Erin’s words, “They told me about all the hard moments we would face, but what they didn’t tell me was how those moments would become the most tender and heaven-filled memories of our lives.”

Devin lived three remarkable years. Each day brought challenges, but even more so, it brought profound joy, laughter, and an indescribable love that Erin would never trade.

“I don’t have a single regret about choosing life,” Erin shared. “Devin was, and always will be, the best thing that ever happened to me.”
