Every generation thinks it has the truth

It is simply a fact that every generation thinks it has the truth. In the 19th century, the "great" scientists of the time were convinced that the size of the brain determined a person's intelligence. That is...until they were proven wrong. They thought that blood-letting cured diseases. That is...until they were proven wrong. I saw a 3 page list on the internet of the diseases that they thought smoking cured. Cancer was one of them.

And we are no different in our century. Every new theory is thought to be the truth. That is...until another new theory comes out and proves it wrong. This is caused by the arrogance of man, the notion that he alone can find the answers to the mysteries of the universe. "We now know" is a constantly repeated theory by scientists and future scientists invariably prove them wrong. The only times that scientists are right is when they agree with God's laws and use them properly. But they will always be wrong if they rebel against God's laws and form man-made theories that are always fallible.

So putting one's faith in shifting sand will always bring about reversal and make one look foolish. But many people have learned nothing from history and continue to think that all new theories are the truth, particularly if they are believed by the majority! But the majority trusted scientists in the 19th century and earlier centuries as well about theories that were later proven wrong. The arrogance of man is alive and well and will continue to be until the return of Christ. It is simply a fact that "He who exalts himself will be humbled." But since most people haven't realized that by now, I can guarantee they will when they die. God will not be mocked.

heidi forgot

Heide did you forget to mention all the things that were believed caused by God and then found rational explanations to disprove God as the source. Some instances were the weather, sickness, electricity ,etc etc etc.

Man's ignorance is monumental compared to his understanding. Past, present and future. God is Creator though and NOTHING could exist without Him. So, in this context, simple people contributing the weather and other such natural phenomena to God is not surprising in the least. We were probably much closer to God when we attributed natural phenomena to Him than we are now that we 'think' we 'know better'.

If you actively hate science, fell free to give up your computer, lights, heating, television, all electrical appliances, medication, cancer-treatments, home (designed based on known laws of physics), tooth care, and most food. Then you can be closer to God, too, like those in midieval times. You can fear your own shadow and claim that when lightning strikes it's God's wrath, like a good peasant. You can also lack any understanding or knowledge of what the bible actually says, and rely on a corrupt church system to tell you what to believe.

If you actually believe that being closer to God is important, do all of these things. It isn't beyond your power to die young of miserable diseases, to lose your teath at age 13, to have 8 children and no way to feed them. Otherwise, you're just being a bit of a hypocrite. Don't say things like that unless you mean them.

If you want to be close to god, rally the ignorant masses, we can have another crusade! Slay the heathens, take the holyland. We can kill thousands AND set society back hundreds of years. It's like killing two birds with one stone! God's will will be fulfilled!

Be serious. You have to realize that your life is so much better because of science. And there's always the major possibility that there is no God, afterlife, or heaven, and that you're just fooling yourself. If this life is all you have, you should embrace it. If you believe instead in raw eternity, then go live in the woods.

Zero, my friend, I said not one word about science. But since you've brought it up. Are you completely ignorant as to 'what' science is? If so, let me fill you in. Science is nothing more than man's limited understanding of the method in which God created EVERYTHING. NO, science was NOT something created by man, science is the understanding of the workings of that which was created.

And since you obviously are very young to be so uninformed, do you realize that the majority of the principles that we still use in most science today were discovered by 'Christians'? Probably not. For many centuries the 'church' was the only source of wealth used to fund 'science'. Galileo, Newton, etc, etc........... were all members of the church which sponsored their research.

And science my friend does not an atheist make. Most scientist that spend enough time learning of the intricacies of the world around us eventually discover that random chance isn't at all as likely an answer to life on earth as many believe in the beginnings of their understanding.
