AVBunyan said:Proverbs 30:5 says: Every word of God is pure:
A few questions:
1. What is the verse referring to?
2. If it is referring to the written word then is every word in your version pure?
3. If not then where do you go to get the pure words Prov. 30:5 is referring to?
God bless
LOLA septic tank can be flawless but not pure.
“The King James Version is a variety of the Textus Receptus. The translators that produced the King James Version relied mainly, it seems, on the later editions of Beza's Greek New Testament, especially his 4th edition (1588-9). But also they frequently consulted the editions of Erasmus and Stephanus and the Complutensian Polyglot. According to Scrivener (1884), out of the 252 passages in which these sources differ sufficiently to affect the English rendering, the King James Version agrees with Beza against Stephanus 113 times, with Stephanus against Beza 59 times, and 80 times with Erasmus, or the Complutensian, or the Latin Vulgate against Beza and Stephanus. HENCE THE KING JAMES VERSION OUGHT TO BE REGARDED NOT MERELY AS A TRANSLATION OF THE TEXTUS RECEPTUS BUT ALSO AS AN INDEPENDENT VARIETY OF THE TEXTUS RECEPTUS....
“BUT WHAT DO WE DO IN THESE FEW PLACES IN WHICH THE SEVERAL EDITIONS OF THE TEXTUS RECEPTUS DISAGREE WITH ONE ANOTHER? WHICH TEXT DO WE FOLLOW? THE ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION IS EASY. WE ARE GUIDED BY THE COMMON FAITH. HENCE WE FAVOR THAT FORM OF THE TEXTUS RECEPTUS UPON WHICH MORE THAN ANY OTHER GOD, WORKING PROVIDENTIALLY, HAS PLACED THE STAMP OF HIS APPROVAL, NAMELY, THE KING JAMES VERSION, OR, MORE PRECISELY, THE GREEK TEXT UNDERLYING THE KING JAMES VERSION. This text was published in 1881 by the Cambridge University Press under the editorship of Dr. Scrivener, and there have been eight reprints, the latest being in 1949 [DWC: It has since been republished by the Trinitarian Bible Society of London, England, and the Dean Burgon Society of Collingswood, New Jersey.] We ought to be grateful that in the providence of God the best form of the Textus Receptus is still available to believing Bible students†(Edward F. Hills, The King James Version Defended, 4th edition, pp. 220, 223).
You are right - I hold to throughly for the reason you mentioned - And yes some publishers of KJV's do take some liberties like putting in Joshua for Jesus in Acts 7:45.Alannah said:AVBunyan, just curious if you knew, but check, 2 Tim. 3:17 Some KJV Bibles (I believe even a few 1611's) say thoroughly instead of throughly. You want it to say throughly. Because Throughly means to completely (clean, whatever) something inside and out, thoroughly only applies to one area, not all.
I am a 1611'er myself.

THE ONLY CONTRADICTIONS ARE IN THE MINDS OF MEN!!!
God is Absolutely Sovereign and ALL OF HUMAN HISTORY IS TRANSPIRING ACCORDING TO HIS WILL.
The Bible is All True, every single word. It is often mistranslated, misquoted, misinterpreted and misunderstood, nevertheless…..EVERY WORD IS TRUE!!!
God is the Creator of every single mind, thought and thing in existence. HE IS THE AUTHOR OF EVERY BOOK EVER WRITTEN.
God gave us our Bibles just the way they are to TEST OUR HEARTS!!
Oh I'm not offended at all. I agree, sort of anyway. The word church is never used in the Greek. Even the "experts" aren't sure about the origin of this word. The Greek word used is ecclesia, or ekklesia and is literally translated as "assembly" or "congregation".The word “Church†in “The Greek Manuscripts†means “Called Out One†or literally “Called Out One By God!†I pray you can appreciate how much confusion is being caused by misunderstanding the meaning of “that†one word!!! If this “offends†you, ( I’m Sorry ) do a little research and you will soon find out that IT IS TRUE!!!!!!!
The word Church appears in the Bible frequently. It is not referring to organized religion, or to buildings and cathedrals. It refers to “ Those Who Are Called Out By God!†Every time you come to the word Church in the Bible, realize it pertains to Those Who Believe in God and His Word, or to the Group of Believers!
