Have you ever heard somebody malign God's character because of infectious diseases? Are you one of these people? I found an article that sheds some light on an infamous question that is often raised about God's grace. Here's a snippet from the article:

Dr. Glasscock received his PhD in molecular and cell biology from the University of California at Berkeley in 2005, and currently serves as a research associate at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX.

The old cliché “two wrongs don’t make a right†proves true in many situations, but in the genetics of the brain, two genetic wrongs can make a right. A few years ago, I participated in research at Baylor College of Medicine (Houston, TX) in which we discovered that inheriting two different epilepsy-causing gene mutations can actually make an individual less epileptic.1 These findings provide evidence that God has built grace into our genomes. And not only is this grace representative of good design from an engineering standpoint, but it also reflects the character of God as our Creator.

You can read the rest of the article which goes into greater detail at this link: http://www.reasons.org/evidence-for-god ... epsy-genes

I like the site, but world view has all the difference on that conclusion. My dad and my sister are epileptic.

I'm sorry about you're dad and sister. You know what, though? I have an idea. How about you lay hands on them and heal them in the name of Jesus?

my dad would let me do that, but my sister is a jw. I have found that when we lay hands and believe for their healing in these types that have to want to break away. As that meds they take can also cause seizures in a normal person and or other issues. Most meds that are used to treat siezures are used to treat depression/bi-polar.

My dad hmm , my bro sees him more often than I do. I run that his way.
Both of them were born that way, my dad is disabled from that stuff. He has so many of them the he cant hold a cup and must use a straw. He has grand mal seizure , while my sisters are petite mal seizure, Her eyes just roll then its over.

thanks for the suggestion.

azlan88,

So Huntington's disease, a severe brain disorder, reveals what about the Christian god's nature then? Please try to be consistent with your previous post when you answer the question.

In Huntington's disease, a dominant genetic disorder, adults with one copy of the gene do not develop symptoms until their 40's or 50's. Importantly, they have no symptoms during their reproductive years, completely unaware that they are passing the gene on to 50% of their children.

When 2 parents unknowingly carrying the gene reproduce, their child is assured of getting this severe movement and brain disorder, with no "mercy".

Does this reveal the Christian god's grace as well. If so, how?

Does it reveal that the Christian god is capable of the opposite of grace?

Does it reveal that demons or sin are responsible for this disorder (but not for epilepsy)?

Are you only able to comment when it seems to you that the data supports the Christian god's grace?

I don't know how epilepsy genes relate to God's grace. I'd say that God's grace abounds despite our circumstance.

I have epilepsy and am grateful that the medication I'm on controls the seizure (I guess I don't have that double-mutation). I know someone who is having difficulty finding the right meds to prevent.

The brain is an incredible organ—it's amazing how well it works, we really tend to take it for granted.

Louis what are you taking for that, and be grateful you can work. As you have read my post.

Yes, I am grateful. I haven't had a seizure or even the yips (that's what I call them, myoclonic jerks) in about 10 years. I'm back on Phenobarbitol, the drug I was first put on back in 1981 when I first started having seizures (grand mal at the time).

I stopped taking meds years ago because I thought my seizures were alcohol-related, but after being sober for a couple of years the seizures came back. I've been on Dillantin, Neurontin, Topomax, Tegretal (I broke through on that and have a bad seizure), Depakote, Lamictal. I had side-effects on most of them, especially sleep problems. When I don't sleep well I feel closer to seizure state. I went back to phenobarbitol about 10 years ago and it works the best for me. It is a barbiturate and I think it makes me a little depressed to be honest, but overall, I sleep better and no seizures.

I will pray for your dad & sister. It's such a powerless feeling to have seizures, I know what it's like.

uh phenybarbetol is the basis for all meds that are related in the treatment of siezures. You do realize that the same meds are used for bi-polar. My wife has taken dilantin and tegretol and depakote. The meds you are taking now is found in plant. Its naturally occuring.

the irrating thing about epilepsy is that the meds themselves can cause the darn seizure if they are over done. What i mean is the dosage must be adjusted.
Does flashing lights and video games cause seizures in your case? Have you ever lost a job (discraminated). My dad had to lie about his disease when he was young as back then it was legal to fire an epileptic.

Flashing lights are really bad, but on this dosage of phenobarb I'm cool. SLEEP is really important to. I don't play video games too often any mre, but back when I first started having seizures was when Atari first came out. I played all the time.

I never lost a job, thankfully because i go to my neurologist every 6 months and have the seizures under control. Yes, I know the same meds are used for bi-polar and depression. I think it's all related.

no siezures and depression and bi-polar arent related. The cause for bi-polar is primarily genetic and one or both parents that are alcoholic.

wait a few minutes and i will post the causes of bi-polar here.

Oh, my brother is bi-polar (and my sister) and alcoholism runs in my family, so that makes sense.

i stand corrected they really dont know. it does run families. I just checked this, sorry.
