Below is what I had to post on my website' because it got real bad' and I mean real bad. Every morning before I go to work I had to delet and ban people and when I come home. So I am going to get another site that is not a forum' in a couple of months' because of these evil people. But below is what I posted on my site today.

Because people will not stop posting spam' on this board. And because a lot of very evil people keep posting porn on this board even nude pictures at times. I have decided to shut the board off from any posting except from the Admins' and that would be Tetril' Don' and I' Lewis. I am going to redo this board in a couple of months. And it will not be a message board anymore. But it will be a website for Christian musicians' but it will be another type of website. These evil people who keep posting the porn links have no respect for the Lord or themselves.
I have just got plain tired of banning and deleting.

I've even had to shut down contact information of a few of the web sites I created for other people. And I have my own forum in which I store information and interesting links I've found around the internet. I had to make it private! These days you can't even have your own data storage unit without some creeps spamming it. So the only option is to lock the door.

Lord have mercy!
 
Yes Relic at first I said this is normal' but they have just made the site a spam center for porn. And it has made me real sad about that. And I have pleaded with people not to do that' but to no avail.
 
Lewis, look into installing a Random Word Conformation Box to your registration form. That will cut down on most the spambots that automatically register.

Lewis, I notice that you use the word evil, where I usually use the word wicked. Both are correct. "Coward" fits there too.
 
Lewis, I never knew you had another web site... Sounds as though you made the right decision. I would take Vic's advise and try to install something that can filter that junk
 
I have to delete those all day long here. The site used to be sit up that anyone that signed up here would automatically be activated, so we had a lot of trouble with people posting porn here. Until Logan sit the site up where I have to activate each and everyones account now. So it is rare that that happens now. Well maybe one my slip by me.
 
This would be a darn nice world to live in if it weren't for the majority of the people. Or, that is how it's beginning to feel.

I use phpBB for our forum and use the image confirmation for registrations - that eliminates the 'bots.

There are still folks that manually register and stick a cialis/viagra link in their profile, but never confirm their registration to post. Occasionally I have to delete a porn post from some sick animal.

I have a religious web site, and go under another handle. What you are saying is the very reason why I never wanted to start something where one logs in and leaves a message. My site is simple---- I post messages, and readers can get back to me via email (and even that is HTML cloaked due to spammers which seems to work). That's it. I do the same thing to our church website as well which I am the webmaster.

The guy that used to webmaster our church site told me all the things I can do with forums, but I stated I never wanted to bother learning because of this type of stuff happening. He said I could delete stuff we did not like, but who has time for that? Meanwhile, when he had control of the site, he never bothered upkeeping it for MONTHS in spite of his high-tech programs. I merely keep it simple, but convert the pastor's sermons from a .doc file to simple HTML oftentimes the same day. And guess what? People love the site without all the bells and whistles.

Do like I do, keep it simple, and I promise you will not have the trouble you have now.
 
Yes I already have a bad word filter that came with the site. And I can validate everyone' before they can post or join' I guess I should start using those things. I do you the ban filters.
