How do you examine yourself to see if Christ is in YOU?

Many false teachers have said that one needs to look at their works, their behaviour, their performance to see if they are saved or not.

Does the Bible teach us that we ought to examine ourselves in this way? Or does it speak differently?

Feel free to watch the below video, explaining from the Bible how a person can know that Christ is in them for assuredly.

Examine yourselves in the faith

2 Corinthians 13:5 KJV
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

I know for a fact that men's works, behavior, and performance can show that Christ is NOT in them.
Can't that work both ways?

Yes. If a man examines himself and finds that he is fornicating, stealing, lying, practicing deceit, exploiting others for personal gain, teaching lies and heresy, and practicing evil in many other forms, this should be considered as a pretty good indicator he is not in the faith.

Yes indeed.
I suppose the best way to figure out if you are in Christ would be to see that you walk as Christ walked.
If one is not walking as Jesus walked, they are not in Christ-converted.

The only difference being that we don't walk in complete sinlessness, but we have an Advocate before the Father, the same Lord Jesus Christ we emulate out of love and admiration.

I don't know why you think that.

If you are still committing sin you are not emulating anyone but the devil.
Choose whom you will serve !

I think you are a little too hopeful there, Hopeful. :)

And no, I am not getting into a debate with you on sinless perfection right now. Maybe some other time perhaps, but it's not an argument I take very seriously.

God bless,
- H

Paul wrote..."Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame." (1 Cor 15:34)
