I read this statement in a blog. I would like imput. What do you think is means and if you agree. Thanks Deb

Disagree. I was an atheist, wouldn't class myself as righteous in any way yet I became a Christian. Faith is a gift on offer to all because of Gods grace.

Hi Deborah:

It would be more accurate the other way round:

The Lord rewards faith.

Even then, faith is not a human meritorious thing; Philippians 2 says that 'it is God that worketh in you both to do and to will of His good pleasure'.

Blessings.

Thanks. I also do not agree with the statement. If anything it is backwards.

I read this in a blog accompanying an artical in a Salt Lake newspaper. I blogged my disagreement and asked for a scripture that back it up. Didn't get one. But did get lots of stuff that went around and around.

What really matters is what the Bible teaches, and it teaches: "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" Rom.10:17.

There is no reward for righteousness...righteousness is a result of obedient faith in Jesus. Faith in Christ is the condition, not the sole one except as implying others; not a condition of merit, but of mercy.

Romans 3:22-26

22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus

This is a great, pivotal Gospel passage in the New Testament.

Romans is so profound and invigorating.
