Father of Aurora shooter to testify to Senate regarding fraud by bankers. Robert Holmes, statistician for FICA and scientist for HNC (a neural network company) must have been getting many people 'annoyed', including his son!

A PHD student of Neuroscience must have gotten very annoyed to have turned to swiss-cheesing a theater of people; someone who has no arrest record, history of violence (that I know of at least), and surrounded by hearsay of unnamed sources about who James Holmes was emulating. Must have been annoyed for quite some time to have had stock piled a very impressive arsenal of weapons, a fully clad riot outfit. Though Holmes had the means AND knowledge of rigging explosives to his apartment, fortunately he didn't want to hurt anyone else so he warned them. Sounds incredibly manic and unmotivated despite reports of seeing a psychologist. Speaking of pharmacology, he must have been licking the mold in his cell because he looked drugged while being sworn in, so drugged that he required someone else to swear that he understood the proceedings. I suppose it is how one interprets the law...

Not really, no.

- He wasn't the one who did the shooting
- The senate hearing has nothing to do with the shooting
- It was probably scheduled well before the shooting
- The shooter wasn't living at home when this happened
- The father sounds like an educated person whose testimony is relevant
- There's been no suggestions he had any knowledge of his son's plans, which by all accounts where out of character and a surprise to everyone who knew him.


Guilt by mere family association went out of style in the middle ages. Why are you trying to shoehorn this into a controversy?

I have got to stop using sarcasm in my posts. Apparently it doesn't come across clearly. That is my mistake.

If you were corrupt enough to steal billions of dollars from Americans through libor scams, is it possible that you would be corrupt enough to destroy the man's life that was about to blow the whistle on you?

I don't think one second that Robert Holmes, the father, is at fault, but there is sure motive for someone to destroy everything that Robert cares about.

The facts are this, and please update me if I am incorrect:

1. The shooter's identity was concealed behind the protective riot gear. It was only AFTERWARDS when police found James at his vehicle did they ID someone.

2. James appears drugged when he is sworn in.

3. James has no police record prior to the shooting.

4. A student that worked with James during his PHD studies showed surprise that James would have done the act.

5. James would warn investigators of explosives after allegedly mowing down innocent people.

6. The timing is very peculiar to the Senate hearing.

Is it too hard to believe that the people who destroyed the economy, bankrupting families across the country, and created the worlds largest financial scam would stoop to a set up of a man's family? Expect more tragedy to strike his family and friends in the following years. I hope that doesn't happen and that I am wrong.

Because none of this event made sense until I learned about Robert Holmes. Everybody does everything for a reason.

It's also possible you'd be corrupt enough to smash an asteroid into the Earth. Unless you can show that they had the means and ability to do so, and in fact used those means, it's all just speculation. Is there evidence that he was about to "blow the whistle" on anything? This wasn't a very high profile hearing until the events last week.

Assuming he was about to "blow the lid off" the alleged conspiracy. The problem with these theories is that they're completely unprovable as well as unfalsifiable. JFK was killed because he was about to reveal the truth about Area 51 and the Roswell crash, according to some people.

... his FACE was concealed. There's a lot more to identification than a face. Using surveillance videos, they can match his body type, height, and other physical characteristics. He dyed his hair orange, which isn't terribly common, and didn't change his clothes.

As well, he was found with the weapons linked to the crime, and notified police he'd booby-trapped his apartment, with materials he'd ordered throughout the past weeks.

Or just out of it, which isn't entirely unusual when someone is charged with a major crime, interrogated, and held in prison for the first time ever.

3. James has no police record prior to the shooting.

Neither did many other serial killers.

Again, very common to many serial killers and in fact many people who commit crimes. Most people put their best foot forward in public.

I'm not sure what you're suggesting with this one. He warned them and they found them.

Not really, senate hearings happen all the time. Despite what people like to think, the government does quite a lot of work.

Yes, it is too hard to believe. You've assumed too many points without evidence.

It's also unnecessarily complicated with far, far too much risk for so little a reward. If I were one of these powerful people who could make something like this happen, I'd just have the father himself killed. Make it look like a robbery gone bad, or a car accident. No testimony, and it doesn't go beyond the local news.

Because none of this event made sense until I learned about Robert Holmes. Everybody does everything for a reason.

this documentary is the best presentation i've seen of the "other side of the story."

the 911 tapes describe the shooter wearing and blue and white checked shirt (no red hair description), multiple witnesses saw someone receive a phone call at the start of the movie who went to the back door to let someone in, James was never described as a loner prior to the incident (watch his 'normal' interactiveness) - a brilliant student with a bright future who suddenly, and without explanation, dropped out of his extremely scientifically advanced school program and went nutters, he left an seemingly "intentional trail" of evidence, like signing up online for a gun range but never actually going there or answering the calls of the range manager to setup his appointment, etc.

also the bloody footsteps to a second car/pickup area, a second suspect car (with guns) described by the PD in the 911 tapes, a second gas mask found at another place at the scene.

If they killed the father there would be no testimony. They want him to alter his testimony. With the kid being held for a major crime they have leverage.

With the leverage they have, they can make the father sing and dance to whatever tune they tell him to.
