Favorite non-Christian Writers

I think here you can list those writers whom you are certain are not Christians and those whom you are unsure about. Let me say that I stumbled upon many non-Christian writers in reading about non-Christian topics, such as the ever-confusing subject of time (and also physics). Some of my favorite writers here are Stephen Hawking, Paul Davies, and Robin Le Poidevin. Le Poidevin is the only author whose beliefs I am certain about, because he has a book titled Arguing for Atheism (I think that's about as clear as you can get). I am unsure about Hawking and Davies beliefs, because they seem to leap between various views at times, such as atheism, deism, and theism. I have Hawking's A Brief History of Time, but I have yet to fully complete it. I have found it to be interesting so far. Davies is probably my favorite non-Christian writer. I am enjoying his God and the New Physics, The Mind of God, and About Time. Le Poidevin's Travels in Found Dimensions, which is about time, is very good as well. I don't always agree with the implications these authors try to draw about God, but I do find their writing to be informative and provocative.

So, I invite others to offer a list of their favorite non-Christian writers (for any genre of writing) and, if desired, list some of their works which you really enjoyed.

Sidenote:
I highly recommend Half-Price Bookstore. This is where I have bought 35 of my 50 books (70%). The prices here are great although the books aren't always in perfect condition. But, if you're cheap like me, you don't mind. Also, this forum has a bookstore that I just recently became aware of (see the "Bookstore" link at the top of the page). In the future, I'll be purchasing some books from here to help support the forum.
