I became a baseball fan about fifty years ago and have a distaste for the steroids era. Here is my all-star team:

C Johnny Bench
1B Albert Pujols
2B Joe Morgan
3B Mike Schmidt
SS Ozzie Smith
OF Willie Mays
OF Hank Aaron
OF Mickey Mantle
SP Sandy Koufax
SP Tom Seaver
SP Greg Maddux
SP Whitey Ford
SP Jim Palmer
RP Hoyt Wilhelm

Okay, I made two changes to my original list:

I substituted Greg Maddux for Juan Marichal and Albert Pujols for Steve Garvey.

Maybe take out Seaver and put in Ryan or Gibson. :yes

Make sure Uecker is their manager. :toofunny

I forgot about Gibson, but I wouldn’t take Seaver out.

Uecker was backup catcher on my favorite team of all time—the 1964 Cardinals.

Okay, let’s take Whitey Ford out and put Bob Gibson in.

And maybe Sparky Anderson should be the manager.

I was a big Seaver fan. We can drop Palmer.

How about Yogi Berra as the manager?

Gibson started games 2, 5, and 7 of the 1964 World Series, winning 5 & 7. He pitched 27 innings and had a 3.00 ERA.

They couldn't catch Perry and his spitter! Cy Young in both leagues. That was back when the pictures wernt sissy.

In the old days NBC and CBS would both have a Saturday and Sunday game. On July 4 everyone played a doubleheader.
