Bible Study Finding all verses for chain referencing

Bible chain reference marking is one way to list the many verses in a Bible having to do with a particular topic.

There is a lot of Google information that gives the mechanics of how to chain link verses related to a particular topic within the Bible. But those verses have to be found in the first place, in order to be listed in the chain. So...

...How do I do research on a particular topic in order to find all Bible verses pertaining to a topic? Chain referencing should link all pertinent verses of a topic, in order, from the front of the Bible to the back.

I'm guessing a concordance might be used? But a concordance mainly looks up words, rather then topics. Maybe there are books that do an exhaustive listing of Bible topics?

Thanks for your help,
Bob

Hi Edward and Agape:

Thank you for your info.

Thank you Edward for those 4 links. I"ll check them out.

Hi Agape:

Wow...

I went to the 4 links you posted. They are great.

I'm sure they will help me do chain references in my Bible.

Thank you,
Bob

I like "Treasury of Scripture Knowledge" as another tool of use for our toolbox. Worth having in print, too.
Glad to see "Nave's Topical" in the list too.

A more secular method would include restricted Google searches, for instance, I could restrict my search to educational sites by prefacing the search string with "Site:.edu" as in "Site:.edu Salvation"

Or if we wanted to look for a specific type of document the search might be restricted with "type:.pdf Salvation"

Student ID's will often come with access to college or university libraries (or both) that extend searches to book, periodicals, and other professional publications.

The two major concordances, Young's and Strong's Exhaustive are invaluable sources (and also worth considering as additions to personal "in-print" libraries). Young's Analytical is designed to lead the simplest reader to a more correct understanding in common English and includes tools to look for word meanings. Strong's Exhaustive is the more cross-referenced and therefore more familiar work one sees. The other compliment to searches would be a good biblical dictionary reference like Vines Complete Expository Dictionary, or Vincent's "Word Studies in the New Testament", and Mathew Henry's Concise Commentary on the Whole Bible. They are probably online too? Unsure but likely in the information age.

Sparrowhawke:

Is the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge the one by Spurgeon? I've seen that one, if so, and it's very good.

Blessings.

My copy sold for $11.95 back in the early 70's and is a compilation of more than 500,000 Scripture references and parallel passages in addition to numerous illustrative notes. In his Introduction, R. A. Torrey states:
There is not a difficult passage in the Bible that is not explained and made clear by other passages in the Bible, and this book is marvelously useful in bringing to light those other parts of the Bible that throw light upon the portion that is being studied.
It may be found online and is ISBN 0-8007-0324-3

Sparrow: Ty.

I've had some Spurgeon books for years and years, too.

Worthwhile additions to any believer's bookshelf.

Blessings.
