For a German theologian of the 1930s that was an extraordinary position.

Bonhoeffer was a voice crying in the wilderness of entrenched ,extreme, liberalism, and could see Hitler for what he was, when the majority could or would not, as well as we can through hindsight.

I expect he is seated with the others martyrs of the faith.
