I'm reminded of the question "What do you need to know, in order to teach a dog a new trick?"
A: "More than the dog."
A lot of homeschooling companies will tell you it's easy, just use their programmed learning materials. But if that worked, everyone would do it.
If you have the education to know math, science, history, civics, language arts, etc. You can do it and because it's a one-on-one situation, you can potentially do better than public schools. If you don't have training in all of those, your kid will end up shorted on his education.

I would say do not home-school, Unless your child is not doing well at public school.
