So last night was an adventure. For one, it was mostly spent with me hugging the toilet....:(

Didn't get much sleep and still feeling bad today. Just asking for prayers for a quick recovery as I am supposed to go home for spring break tomorrow...

Sorry for your problem. I had a similar experience few hours ago.
(Have you seen your doctor?)
We will pray for you for a quick recovery.:praying C.h.e.e.r...u.p

I plan on seeing my doctor when I return home tomorrow...but thank you for you well wishes and prayers :yes

In 8 days, I turn 52. I've had some minor surgeries, but never actually been in the hospital.

Until last August.

On Tuesday the 2nd, I was in a meeting and got to feeling REAL weird. Kinda like a stomach upset, but WEIRD. Within an hour, I realized that, if I threw up, I'd feel better. So I went to the men's room and tried... and could not do it.

I got worse as the day went on, consumed chicken broth and water. Got a bit of diarrhea (to put it mildly). But anyway, in the morning, I was so weak I could not sit up. WHAT was going on with me?

Called the doctor, she said to get to the ER. I didn't want to go. Had a friend come and get me, I could hardly walk to the car.

When the ER receptionist saw me walk in, she got up and called the nurse and they took me to a room NOW.

Long story, short version: I was there 5 days, I was severely dehydrated so they started an I.V. and did a lot of tests. They said I was blocked somewhere beyond the stomach and paralyzed from the stomach to the other end - hence I could not throw up. They pumped my stomach for over two days and I got nothing but I.V. fluid and morphine (the pain set in when they started to pump the stomach).

After three days, they stopped the pump and started me on a liquid diet. It took me three weeks to get back to normal and three more days to start back on solid foods.

So, what was it? They said I was "functionally blocked". That is, food poisoning had messed up my 'gut'. (When admitted, they said the only thing they could hear was my heart and breathing - no other sounds, everything was shut down).

The cure was pumping the stomach so the 'gut' could rest - (the body had emptied the other end.)

Doctors said IF I never have this again, it was food poisoning. IF it returns, then they would look for other things, but both surgeons said they see this more than you know - and are sure I got bad food in a restaurant a day or two earlier.

How do ya feel now? :D

OP, ok. Try and get some rest until it's over. Nothing is as scary as stomach stuff

Sorry Pizzaguy:(:(
You'd probably eaten bad pizza that period.

Navigator - prayers are directed your way from my locale. If it's just a stomach virus, keep Coca cola on hand.... for some reason, it helps with stomach disorders. Just don't dehydrate!

God bless & keep you,

Major ouch, Pizzaguy .... food poisoning did that to you?

It's a wee bit unnerving to think surgeons/doctors are seeing more of what you experienced....makes you wonder, doesn't it.

Glad you're doing better now .......
and............ Happy Birthday to you (a few days early) !

Lucky. haha.

But to those of you who extended prayers....they worked! I'm already feeling better after eating a little chicken noodle soup and drinking some Gatorade with water. :-)

I'm going back home tomorrow and it looks like I'll be able to make the trip by myself. I'm feeling so much better!

Amen, Navigator!

Glad to hear you're feeling better... hope the improvements continue.

Have a great spring break & stay safe!
