For Sabbath Observers

First of all, I want to ask sabbath observers these questions...and others who also honor the sabbath in some way. Please don't let arguments enter in, I just want to see how others are spending these days in their families, and churches. For the purpose of a patchwork view kind of thing.

Do you honor the seven feasts as well as the sabbath? If not why, and if so...do you have Christian versions?

And is sabbath school rest really? The reason I ask, is because it seems we can worship any day of the week...and I say that for those Sunday shool folks too, but I am wondering if it is good to rest ourselves...and our family, animals, etc....on the Friday sundown to Saturday sundown hours, and then attend worship either Saturday night, or Sunday morning? I guess I am thinking this would look more like the principal that God was exampling before us, and would honor God in a more accurate manner. If I am way off, how? Is there anything you would change about the way you honor the day?

Just sincere questions for Sabbath observers. The Lord bless all of you.

Nope. We are not commanded to keep the feast days..I guess if one wanted to, they could. To me, it is these types of celebrations that Paul was speaking about in Romans 14 though so many try and apply this to Sabbath.

I think the Sabbath is also for worship and fellowship. What better way to honor the Sabbath then to spend it in fellowship and have it be a blessing together? However, as Vic has pointed out a few times, Sabbath is not a matter of 'which day to worship' but 'which day is holy'. Going to church on Sabbath or Sunday doesn't make either a holy day.

When we go to our jobs during the week, we are so busy that we forget to worship God. I believe that Sabbath is a day to rest from the daily grind and worship God. I think that is what God meant when He wanted us the keep this day Holy. Of course that is just my own opinion of the subject.

I treat all days the same, and Bible says that's ok. I don't act in accordance with one day to be set apart as Holy. How I live my life determines what is holy and what is not, I can either make a day holy or unholy (if I live for myself) to myself.

So, are you saying that it's quite okay to dishonor the day that God made holy at Creation ...? So why did He bother?

Hi Lovely,

Briefly,' there therefore remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God ' Hebrews 3 and 4 exhorts us to enter into it. When it is entered it is kept and from my own observations half of Christiandom does not even believe that there is a Sabbath rest. Astonishingly, I have entered that rest on just two occassions and then and only then have I in all sincerity 'rested from my works'.

In Christ: Stranger

So, are you saying that it's quite okay to dishonor the day that God made holy at Creation ...? So why did He bother?

Who said I dishonor it? I acknowledge God's creation all the time. Also the Ten Commandments were carried over to the New Testament in the lump sum of a moral law (Matthew 22:36-40, Romans 13:8-10) of which love for God and love for your neighbor summarizes the entirety of the law. Not observing the Sabbath (meaning setting aside a day of rest on Saturday) does not inhibit my ability to worship God nor to love Him, nor does it inhibit my ability to love others. And of all the commandments quoted in Romans 13:8-10 the sabbath is not mentioned, as it is not mentioned as a command to keep in the New Testament at all, and is significantly left off of the edict of the Council of Jerusalem. That is because it is the only commandment that does not refer to a relationship between the believer and God or other people. The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath, and is not a necessity to observe it under the law of Chirst but only a (personal) benefit if wish to do so.

I recognize the days that they fall on...

If not why, and if so...do you have Christian versions?

The rest is to recognize the coming Messianic Kingdom age. Man made Sabbath law is what Jesus was spoke against...Learning God's word (i.e. sabbath school) is not work for monetary gain.

The Sabbath is there as a reminder of the Messianic Kingdom....the pattern of 7. Seven days in the creation, 6 work 1 rest. 6000 years of man's lease on earth, 1000 year Messianic rest.

Forget to do that....ie change it to Sunday....and you forget the original intent....

Oops.....it worked....a quick show of hands....how many here knew about the 7 day/ 7000 year time template? How many realize the Sabbath points to the Messianic Kingdom?
