In the Orthodox Church, they have a customary day of the year right before Lent begins called "Forgiveness Sunday." They'll line up in the parish and extend forgiveness, mutually saying "Forgive my sins against you", and, "God forgives and I forgive. Please forgive me, a sinner." It prepares the spirit for for the great fasting period, which is useless without forgiveness. I really like that custom. I'm no longer Orthodox but some of their practices are still a part of my spiritual life.
In the spirit of forgiveness, I extend my own plea. Forgive me any offenses I've committed to you here. It's so easy to get caught up in right or wrong, arguing doctrine or theology or dogma. If I have fallen short or caused offense, forgive me!
And I forgive all offenses against me, real or perceived.
God bless!
