Mildred, the church gossip, and self-appointed monitor of the church's morals, kept sticking her nose into other people's business.

She made a mistake, however, when she accused Frank, a new member, of being an alcoholic after she saw his old pickup parked in front of the town's only bar one afternoon.

She emphatically told Frank (and several others) that everyone seeing it there would know what he was doing. Frank, a man of few words, stared at her for a moment and just turned, and walked away.
He didn't explain, defend, or deny... He said nothing.

Later that evening, Frank quietly parked his pickup in front of Mildred's house...walked home...and left it there all night!!!

You gotta love Frank!

Is this a true story? I really really hope i get the chance to do the same thing some day!

You know Reba, I've been thinking about this one.

Frank was actually very mean, maybe meaner than Mildred.

I feel bad for Mildred now.

sheeesh i dont i have know too many dreaded 'church ladies' in my life....

I feel bad for Mildred now.

I don't. Mildred is old enough to know to mind her manners. If she really cared about Frank she would not have made accusations she really didn't have any reason to make. That's just a woman with an evil mind. Don't know if she self righteous or maybe insecure but either way....boo.

I think Frank showed wisdom and self control. I mean what could happen, now she has to defend herself against gossip, a lesson learned hopefully.

Frank retaliated.
He did not show love.
Retaliation is never right.
