The world English bible is the only bible in modern English that has no copyright attached to it.
It is the only bible that can be legally distributed on the internet.
While there are others also distributing other translations this is the only legally free version.
All I have done is put the files that are already available on the internet into one easy to use exe file, instead of them been in individual distributed as html documents.
This was a quick job that I did and I warn that there may be some mistakes.
The World English Bible is an ongoing project that has not been fully translated yet. While the whole Bible is in this exe file. there may still be some words from the Old King James version
Please download it from this links below. It is about 1.2 Meg in size

The copyright to the King James Version lapsed long ago. Anyone can freely distribute it too.

Thanks Bryan, Yes you are right however, as far as modern English versions The World English Version is the only version without the "thee's" and "thous" etc, that is free to distrubute.

It is a funny thing (a polite way of saying) that Gods Word is owned by others who expect payment for each copy. Especially since salvation is a free gift from God.

Yes yes, it can be argued that people must be payed for the work they do when they make a translation. But I ask the question why are the translators of The World English version any different ? Maybe they are keen to see His word distributed to all for free as God intended.

I keep on thinking about the story when Jesus upturned the tables of the money changers in the temple. I have heard that the reason that Jesus was so annoyed by that was not because they were trading in a Holy place but because the money traders were selling animals for the old testament sacrifices. Jesus was upset because others were profiteering from others who wanted to make a animal offering for thier sins.
Im not sure, but I have a fear that God may be just as angry at those who are profiteering from the sales of His Word.

What do you think ?

MODERN english. Thanks, don't know why I missed that.

I think it's a good idea, even though it's basically just a paraphrase of the ASV, rather than a complete new translation.

BTW, there's fair bit of info on the WEB at http://www.ebible.org.
