Just thought this would be something awesome to share! I would post this in the science section, but I still can't post in there.

Just incase the video doesn't work:

I'd like to see the test run with the subject making choices in response to external stimuli.

Say he is shown two pictures of ice cream cones, one chocolate, and one vanilla, and he has to chose the one he wants by pushing either the left or right button.

Then cake or pie, coffee or tea, pizza or a cheeseburger, red shirt or blue shirt, blonde or brunette,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Not that I think the way the test in the video was run was flawed, I'd just like to see the results of a test run with external stimuli also.

The researcher knew what the subject was going to choose 6 seconds before the subject pressed the button.

That does not indicate a lack of free will, only that the brain takes 6 seconds to tell the hand to press the button for that decision.

No, SIX SEXONDS before he makes a decision CONCIOUSLY. It doesn't take six seconds for me to snap my finger. It shouldn't take six seconds for him to press a button.

There was a reason they did it that way, it was because they didn't want anything to influence him, besides him. It was trying to assertain free will from a non influencial point of view.

If it had red and blue, its always going to be his personal preference, and not him making a hard decision.

Yeah but I'd still like to see it run both ways just for curiosity. And it isn't always personal preference. Sometimes I like chocolate, others I like vanilla. I'm sure some of the tests would involve something more than an automatic choice based of preference.

Sure, thats would be awesome.

The video makes a point by saying we're not hostages to our brains. It's like having a leftwing government that puts us all in small cages made of laws controlling our lives. If you're Liberal, you think you're free because the compulsion of these laws is consistent with what you want to do, anyway. We live in the cages of our brain, and we think we have free will because what we want to do is what we're compelled to do.
