Freedom From Religion

Jesus said, "If the Son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed" John 8:36.

The words "Law" and "Religion" basically mean the same thing. When one is doing the law, they are doing their religion. When one is doing religion, they are doing the law. Anything in the Bible that tells us to do something or not to do something is law. We cannot be free from religion until we are free from the law.

Jesus said, "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" John 8:32.

How does Jesus make us free? Jesus makes us free from the law by fulfilling all that the law demands for us. This is why Paul wrote, "Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believes" Romans 10:4. To everyone that believes what? To everyone that believes the Gospel. In the Gospel Jesus as our substitute and representative fulfills all that the law demands. He does this in our name and on our behalf.

There are Satanic forces on this Forum that oppose this teaching. All that Jesus is and all that Jesus did was for our justification and our salvation. "We are complete in him" Colossians 2:10. If we are complete "In Christ" then who needs laws, rules and religion? The answer is no one. Jesus came into the world as God's new Adam, his mission was to undo what the first Adam did. In our name and on our behalf, he perfected our humanity and took it back to heaven. Our salvation is in a very safe place.

Many do not understand why Jesus abolished the law. The law has been abolished for those that are "In Christ". If you are not "In Christ" then you are under the law and will be judged by it. The written Mosiac law demands perfect obedience or spiritual death. This is why Paul referred to the law as a "Ministration of death" 2 Corinthians 3:6-7. Paul also said, "For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse" Galatians 3:10.

In spite of this, many insist that the law and the commandments are the way to live. When Jesus died on the cross everything changed. God tore the veil that covered the Holy of Holies from the top to the bottom, this signified the end of the Old Covenant, the law and the Jewish religion, Matthew 27:51. Under the New Covenant, God's people live by faith and the Holy Spirit and not by the law,
