From Youth Minister to Head Pastor...

As Often the case, a minster entering the feild will start of as a youth minister. As they gather experience, they eventually leave working with youth for a head pastoring position. The Question I ask is; Should you accept a position as a youth minister if you know your call is to older people?

Do not go where the Spirit does not lead.

There are several paths one can go on to being a Pastor.

Make sure you know your calling. Pray, meditate and even fast on it if you need to to make sure this calling is of God and not what you or others think you need to do.

Talk to those who are Pastors. Ask them what they did and why.

I've done allot of preaching and teaching over the years but never had the calling to Pastor a congregation.

I had my path as an Evangelist laid out well. I went into the Navy and saw a big piece of the world. And God used me every step of the way.

Remember as one called into the ministry of the Lords work we are doing his will not ours.

20 plus years later I'm still at it the best I can. Doctors have tried to get me to retire full. I did in the secular world. But not for the Lords work. I'll do that till my last breath.

Being a Pastor like a Evangelist or your small Church preacher is not a job it truly is a way of life. 24/7

The answer is within you. Seek it out.

Ephesians 4:11 :)

If you know you are called to pastor adults, don't take a position as a youth pastor. You'll be sad. You really have to be called to work with youth. It can be a very tough job.
