I never thought that I would see the day.

Ok, so using CRISPR technology has become the stuff of basement and garage laboratories. There are guys who are creating and using Gene therapy on themselves for a variety of ailments.
Scary stuff.
Even going as far as Gene Drives... trying to eradicate insects and rodents.
Without proper testing and forethought...they are doing this.
One guy is trying to create bioluminescent dogs and rats. (Cats must be too difficult) Animals that glow in the dark like fireflies.

Three parent babies... babies born with viral resistance...

What are they thinking?
I'm a bit disturbed.

Sure Gene therapy has some great news for kids with blindness and other problems... even cures for some adults. It's good stuff.

I don't understand a lot of this, but I understand enough for it to sound like something straight out of Doctor Who.

Yes, I have heard about this. They make it sound like they have made so much progress, but everything has it's price. You mess with God's design, there will be consequences. Think there are enough horror movies out there to pose this idea and how it could theoretically backfire. What happens when we have genetically modified people let loose in society living as everyone else and then procreating? What crazy modifications will they release to their offspring, possibly unknowingly? How will these gene's be affected over generations? What new genetic diseases will we have when DNA makes fatal or harmful errors? It is irresponsible to say the least, but the modified person shouldn't have to suffer, either.

It plays God, though, in my opinion. People have been messing with gene's for many many years. People that do not care about God's original design will seek to make it how they want it. They rely on their own strength and are not relying on God.

When something wrong is being done, it will definitely have consequences of some kind.

They are doing the same stuff that research labs have been doing for years. As long as they don't stupidly inject themselves or other people with unproven stuff, maybe they will discover some new data for science. Apple computers were developed by private individuals in a garage. Amateur astronomers nightly scan the skies for stuff that professional astronomers don't have time for. Millions of people working on research can do more research than a few thousand researchers working for corporations.

There should be laws prohibiting anyone from injecting people with this stuff though. That's not safe.
