would the supporters of geocentrism care to show us the logical reading of the word and the interpretation according to the geocentric world view.

ie where is hell in the geocentric view?
or the heavens(third heaven)

Or just a defense of the verses that are used to assert geocentric theory. I am completely neutral on this topic, as I am fed up with "science". Let the Word speak for itself and we shall see where the pieces fall.

I don't know about Bible verses that support it, but think about this example I found on a website explaining spatial relativity.

Two people riding on a train from New York to San Francisco play a game of ping-pong in the sport compartment of the train. Lets say, the train moves at 100 km per hour (= 27.8 m/s) and the two players hit the ball at a speed of two meters per second. In the reference frame of the players, the ball moves back and forth at this particular speed. For a stationary observer standing beside the railroad, however, things look quite different. In his reference frame the ball moves at 29.8 m/s when it is played forward in the direction where the train is heading, while it moves at 25.8 m/s in the same direction when it is played backwards. Thus he doesn't see the ball moving backward at all, but always moving towards San Francisco. For an observer in outer space, things look again totally different because of the Earth's rotation, which is opposite to the train's movement; therefore the outer space observer always sees the ball moving East.

Which one is right, the one that says the ball is moving back and forth, the one that says it's moving west or the one that says it's moving east?

To an observer on Earth, we are stationary and the Sun, stars, Moon and planets all revolve around us. Looking from the center of our solar system, everything, including stars, revolves around the Sun. From a vantage point far above the Milky Way, it seems that everything revolves around the galactic center. Which view is correct?

As far as I can see, all views are equally valid in this regard. Whether the Earth, Sun or something else is the center of the Universe depends on your vantage point. For most of us, that's the Earth, making it the center of the Universe.

I don't know why some keep referring to the Bible concerning matters like this. God's word was not given to us so we may determine the mysteries of physics. Gees, God's word is so much more than that. Using the Bible to determine the position of the earth in relation to the rest of the celestial bodies in the universe leads to poor exegesis and junk science.

I wish to not see any more of these sort of topics or at least confine them to the Science thread where they belong. This topic fits neither Apolgetics or Theology as we know it, unless one is back in the time of Copernicus and Galileo Galile.

Ian, it's silly topics like this that cause such a wedge between God and science.

Jason, I'm not saying your topic is silly; I just think that Christians actually debating this topic in the 21st. century is just plain silly. Who care if the center of the known universe in not Earth? It doesn't shake our faith one iota.

It could shake an exceptionally weak faith, for if one's spiritual faith is built upon the shifting sands of their own physical perceptions then they are an excellent candidate for deception.

i never thought the sol system is in the center of the milky way galaxy.DONT assume that i am a geocentrist, i was merely seeing why some would still hold that when theres really nothing solid on that in the bible.

No I agree with you. Frankly I don't care one way or the other. I just wanted to make it apparent that at least I was not out to attack the geocentric view, I am genuinely curious about the verses that apparently defend such a view.

lol, we are an illusion.
