Getting a new laptop for work

My boss has told me to spec a new machine for work. Currently, as I have stated in another thread, I use a desktop with 64-bit Win 7, 8 GB of RAM and a Nvidia Quadro FX 3450 video card. However, when I work at home, I'm using an old laptop that was given to me--32-bit XP with 2 GB of RAM and it likely has an early Quadro mobile video card. Both machines are Dell and are 4-5 years old.

To help me be more productive at home and on my travels, which will happen at some point, I have been asked to spec a Lenovo W700. Has anyone had experience with Lenovo? My boss does use a Lenovo W500 and likes it a lot. This means I will have just one machine to deal with rather than transferring files back and forth, wondering which is up-to-date.

The W700 has a 17" screen and 64-bit Win 7. I'll be getting 8GB of DDR3 RAM, Core 2 Duo 3.06 GHz (since the program I use isn't multi-threading, yet, this is better for performance), and hopefully the WUXGA screen and Nvidia FX3700 (1 GB RAM). And of course, for security, they come with an integrated fingerprint reader.

I'm pumped about it, especially since the company is buying. I like trying new brands so that when I need to buy one down the road, I know where to look.

Well, what exactly do you use it for? A video editor will have different requirements than a web developer, who will have different needs than a application server developer.
