My wife was telling me about one of the young women we help at church.
She was giving her good advice that she needed to hear and it was well received.
Then she said, "if you can't give good advice, then keep your mouth shut".
That's just the way she talks.
She's one tough cookie (I don't know where that expression came from but I use it a lot. I suppose someone once made cookies that were more like hockey pucks, or something like that).
What she said made me realize that here on the forum we sometimes get emotional in a thread and say things that may not be considered good advice.
I just wanted to share that with you all.
I think my wife is giving good advice when she says, "if you can't give good advice, then keep your mouth shut".

I'm sure that's what it is......she doesn't crumble easily.

One of my pet peeves is when one says "I know what you are going through" and then tries to give you advice. No, you do not know what I am feeling or going through as you have never been in this particular situation. Your wife is right, sometimes you just need to shut your mouth.

Some people think that giving negative advice is good advice.
That is not true.
We are told to build up the body of Christ with good advice, not break down the body of Christ with negative advice.
For what is good with being negative, especially when it is all the time?

ya, no one wants negative advice as how is that going to help anyone, but only bring them down lower than what they are already feeling.
