"Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased." Luke 2:14
Birth of Jesus Christ is a time of joy and reconciliation. Many people argue that December 25th is not the right time to celebrate Christmas as it is historically related to the festival of a pagan God of Greek mythology. Nevertheless, it is a time the world come around together to worship the true Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and celebrate the humbleness, love and care of God to earth.
It was indeed amazing and wonder for the heavenly beings, if not humans at the night of Christmas. The Lord God, whom thousands times thousands of angels, archangels and Cherubim worship every time has taken human life in the earth in the midst of animals. Only time in the history, the heavens open up and multitude of heavenly hosts joined with angels, praising God and sharing the Good news. "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased."
The gospel of the heavenly hosts are truly divine. Though short, it has two distinct hidden messages. First, All the glory in this universe and heavens goes to the God alone. Secondly, on the earth, let there be peace among the men whom God is pleased.
This Christmas is the best time to praise our God with highest glory. The wonders of His love for us and to this world is evident in flesh and blood today. The barrier of God and human is torn apart and God is with earth now. This was a paradigm shift to the fundamental nature of God. Jews couldn't understand this mystery even after two thousand years. Simply because, it redefines the nature of God. When the name of God wouldn't be used in vain and no one survive to see the God, at Christmas God has a face, human body, flesh and life giving blood. The message of Christmas is Immanuel- God is with us. He is no more a God, who was before.. He doesn't need our burnt sacrifices from now on. He roams around like Mary and Joseph on that night in Bethlehem, looking for hearts to be born.
Peace on earth has become an irony now. Everywhere, we hear mourning and sufferings. We are all surrounded by darkness and evil of extremism, violence and selfishness. We shouldn't expect the world to change by its due course. Jesus Christ has called us for to be the change. He calls us to be the Salt and Light of this world. If we could transform the selfishness, darkness and evil within ourselves into the innocence of a manger, Jesus Christ will be born in our hearts. Once the seed of Jesus Christ is in us, it will grow and flourish into plant which provides divine fruit, shelter and light to others. God wants us to be transformed and transform others. God's stewards, who are happy by themselves and make others happy. Who have peace and provide peace. The peace makers of this world. But, unless we are in peace with God, we cannot become giver of peace.
We can pray that in the midst of severe darkness and evil of this world, Lord, we submit our lives to your hands and prepare our hearts for the birth of your divine seed within us. God, grow in us and let us produce fruit of Love, happiness and peace to this world. Let us prepare a manger in our hearts and pray 'Be born in me.'
