God’s Covenant - Our ‘Salvation Negotiation Table’
To fully understand Jesus Christ one only has to understand the legality of professional sports teams. In a professional sports team every club signs a player to an exclusive contract giving the team the right to deny a player any further contract negotiations with any other team.
This same legal structure exists in heaven. When God created Adam and Eve he put them on the playing field of Paradise with only one contract demand, that they don't eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Then Satan entered the Garden of Eden disguised as a serpent in order to tempt Adam and Eve with a new contract to join ‘Team Satan’. While Adam and Eve didn't know they were switching teams the signing bonus promised by Satan was too good to turn down.
So when Adam and Eve violated the terms of their contract with God they were forced to leave God’s team in Paradise. What really happened to Adam and Eve was that Satan deceived them into trading themselves away to Satan’s team.
After the downfall of Adam and Eve Satan now became the exclusive owner and agent of every person on earth. This means that Satan now decides if any person has the right to talk to God, and accept any offer from God, to be reinstated back onto God’s team - ‘Team Jesus Christ’.
We all know that Satan would never allow anyone to listen and accept any offer from God to join ‘Team Jesus Christ’ thereby gaining forgiveness for their sins. So God set up a special covenant with man that foretold of a coming messiah that will ‘have’ the authority to talk to any person under contract with Satan and to offer them a trade back to God’s team - ‘Team Jesus Christ’!
When a person believes in the messiah Jesus Christ two things happen simultaneously. First the person is granted the right to talk to God about a trade, and then the trade is agreed upon that Satan cannot prevent. While the actual trade doesn’t happen until death the person who has been traded to ‘Team Jesus Christ’ now becomes part of the ‘New Covenant’ which gives them the exclusive right (permission) to talk to others (in the name of Jesus Christ) to offer anyone the same trade ‘deal’!
Is it any wonder that Satan hates Christians and doesn’t want any of them around because, through the ‘New Covenant’, Christians have the right to talk to anyone on ‘Team Satan’ and offer them the greatest trade deal of them all, reinstatement back onto ‘Team Jesus Christ’ in heaven forever. Christians are now God’s exclusive agent down here on earth to talk to anyone on ‘Team Satan’ about a trade to ‘Team Jesus Christ’ that Satan cannot prevent.
The whole point is that many people believe that in our sinful condition we are separated from God with complete autonomy to do as we will. But in reality we are slaves to sin and to the God of this world, Satan. Satan has had the right to allow or disallow anyone from talking to God and to allow or disallow any offer of forgiveness from God. But with the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ that all changed. Jesus Christ fulfilled the contract Satan held on all of mankind. Now every person who believes in Jesus Christ has a new contact with Jesus Christ complete with eternal life in heaven and the authority to initiate trade talks with anyone (New Covenant) on behalf of God - Jesus Christ.
In the story of man’s sin in the Garden of Eden man gave away his relationship with God. What people don't realize is that man didn't just give up his relationship with God but formed a more deadlier relationship with Satan, the great deceiver. Satan is the great deceiver and loves to have people believe that he (Satan) holds no contract over their lives that lasts for eternity.
Satan enjoys having people believe that when Adam and Eve sinned God kicked them both out of Paradise to live on their own. But the reality is, when Adam and Eve sinned, they left God to become a slave of Satan, the ruler of this world. A slave that cannot negotiate their own contractual release.
Think of God’s covenant as our ‘Salvation Negotiation Table’ where people can come unhindered to enter into a new contract with God unhampered by any previous claims by Satan. It must be remembered that Satan negotiated a new contract with man disguised as a serpent while God came in human form in the person of Jesus Christ, God’s son.
God became man in the person of Jesus Christ to be our one and only salvation negotiator! Ultimately Jesus Christ brought out our contract with his own life. A contract that Satan held over every person. Jesus Christ now offers each person, individually, a new contract. All we need to do to sign this new contract is to believe in Jesus Christ!
If you realize that you're playing for the wrong team, Team Satan, a team that is already destined to lose and ultimately will be cast into the bottom of the standings called hell. Then just believe in the death and resurrection of God’s exclusive owner/agent, God’s son Jesus Christ, and get traded back to God’s team - Team Jesus Christ. A trade that will last forever with a new and everlasting contract that can never be rescinded or voided!
