I am hew here and have just recently gave my life back to the lord. I have a few games for my PC and I was wondering how god felt about them. The games I have that I was wondering about is Gun, Call of duty, all the half life games and counter strike source. I would love it if anyone could give me some info on this please.

The best thing you can do is pray about it. If you feel uneasy about these games, and that you shouldn't as a Christina be playing them, then by all means get rid of them. Also another thing to look at is are they keeping you from other more important things? Do you play them instead of reading your Bible or working? That would also be a good cause to either get rid of them, or seriously take them in hand and not allow them to control your life.

As far as the games themselves I know nothing about these particular games. Half Life has always looked evil to me. Just from looking on the cover so I have never considered playing it.The others Im not sure if I have even heard of them. (I like rpg's and point and click adventures)

Also the Bible says I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes. Is there any occult practices (magic, wizardry, demons, monsters, ect..) Then you should immediatly burn them.

In the past I have enjoyed games such as Halo, Red Faction 2 and more, but recently the Lord spoke to my heart about them that I should not be playing them because then I become immune to violence, and I don't want that!

The Lord will lead you if you are truly seeking His will.

I would one pray. And then I'd take away anything that had to associate with Demons or the Devil.

I say it's only a game, but then again, that's what people say about the quija board. I feel that games don't make a difference one way or the other, but certain games like Doom, Man Hunt, Resident Evil, and a few others make me so uneasy that I can't play them. If it's fun and doesn't disturb your spirit, play it. If not, pray about it and get rid of it.

I will never play any game that might associate with zombies or demons. That's just me though. I really thing about if it goes against the Lord.

*sigh*
you do realize why the church baned necromancy,magic,ect.. it was so they could gain power in a time of uncertanty. They uesed the bible to control the world as we saw during the crusades and dark ages so the whole no magic, zombies, demons, was just to wipe out some minority religions in the world so they could rule absolute

Hi Rick,
I agree with the other posts that suggest praying over the games. If God leads you to get rid of them, then destroy them.
I am not familiar with the games that you are playing either. I would be concerned with anything that might open a door to the demonic, as are the others who posted earlier. But another concern, especially with role playing games, is the possibility of dissociation. That is something that you do not want to happen to you. :smilecolros:

Well, I have not been to the Nine Hells of Baator yet... But I'am planning on making a trip down there one day to slay the Duke of the Fourth Balial, and his sinful daughter along with him. I'll be accompanied by a fire wizard, a fighter who specializes 2-handed weapons, my druid friend whom you all know as "Morg Wolfsong", his intelligent and talking pet worg ,and a ranger whos favored foes turn out to be the forsaken outsiders from the lower planes...

It will be a rough journey but we will all make it through. I go on this journey for God, to slay a most hated devil, and vengence for ones that have fallen by the Dukes vile ways...

yes dalen it will be perilous but the reward shall be great finally those who were perverted by evil power shall be brought to judgement

Oh yes it would be terrible if you started to think for yourself and not take every order the church gives..
but as for a portal to the demonic only one thing in this world opens a portal that you speak of and that is your actions on this earth. A magic ritual doesn't open a portal but your actions do
so if you are truly evil then you shall be consumed by the darkness

Hmm...I'm a huge gamer, and I had the same tastes as you until about a year ago, so here's my view:

Games in general are okay. Just like playing cops and robbers back in the day. I personally don't worry about immunizing myself to violence, but that's a heart issue. I'm just as affected as anyone else by acts of violence, but the graphical depiction or real depiction of violence doesn't bother me (unless it's really bad, like the beheading videos a couple years ago...I didn't watch those).

However, you really have to be careful regarding the anti-God things you bring into your mind. If you set your mind consistently on magic spells and sorcery, your thoughts will more frequently turn away from God and towards what you've spent your time on. I've witnessed this myself, not with games but with cartoon series (tiny bit of a newbie anime freak, since a few weeks ago :P). You have to be very careful, and always continue to read your Bible and pray.

EDIT: Regarding Half-Life being evil, I played Half-Life and mods for it for years (and nothing else!). I actually decided not to buy it a few times before my brother bought it, because of the cover...but it's really not bad at all. Unless you're really anti-blood-and-gore. ;)

I was a huge gamer myself as well. IM gonna put it this way though. If I was playing games and a slave to it taking my time do u think i could have done all this.
Volunteered at the church, hospital
Preached the gospel to a 10,000 people crowd
Wrote many songs of Worship for his Church
Wrote a christian Book
Prayed over the sick and HEELED them!!!
Visited different nations to share my testimony
Led 700 people to christ

I dont think I could have done all that at the age i am now of 22yrs old. IF PS2 or the computer games kept me addicted.

You may be really amazed BUT guess what - I DIDNT DO THOSE THINGS
MY point is I COULD HAVE- god could have yYOU doing more amazing works for him then just being the best on ur team at counter strike.
It waste soo much time - the kingdom has invested in you NOW- I crushed my PS2 and all my games, I dont play pc games at all. When i said i live for the LORD OH I LIVE FOR THE LORD.
I have done some of those things, But man i wish i have done them all but - i learned the value of time now.. and making my life now COUNT for ETERNITY. (read are u truly saved) ITS what u need to hear
