Although many believe this country is turning more and more into a theocracy.....

It is still comforting to know that I will not be burned at the stake or castrated by hooded holy men for my beliefs......

I watched a documentary on Galileo the other night on the education channel and it really sunk in.....

I would have been hung by my nads years ago if the times were set back a few hundred years.....

Interesting you say that, many people believe American is turning into a socialist country like France. Why, well because many atheists are manipulating the Constitution and shout such phrases like “Separation of Church and State†when it does not apply.

I wonder myself how many people still believe the phrase “Separation of Church and State†is in the Constitution. Now don’t get me wrong I am all for Separation of Church and State but not in the absurd and ridiculous sense that some people take it. I truly look forward to the day when human government finally ends once and for all and Jesus Christ returns and rules. Until that glorious day however democracy (which technically is the wrong word because if one has studied any history America would be better described as a republic) is the best one has.

Amen,

I thank God I was born in a nation that recognizes God given rights.

I would have hated to have been born in the Atheistic Soviet Union as well.

Come quickly Lord Jesus!

I wonder myself how many people still believe the phrase “Separation of Church and State†is in the Constitution.

I similarly wonder how many Christians believe that "trinity" is in the bible. Or "rapture".

Does that invalidate their truthfulness?

Even strict constructionists (the kind the religious right usually support) utilize the Federalist Papers and the writings of the founding fathers in formulating their opinions about the intent of various parts of the Consititution and their application. As such, Jefferson's and others writings are very important.

There are many other words that are not in the Consitution.

"Air Force"
"Environmental Protection"
"Miranda Rights"
"Education"
"NASA"

Shall we eliminate these?

Also, they use those funky long "esses" so it looks like "Congreff" which has always made it look silly, in my opinion.

I see what you are saying Thinkman, however when ever I see people use the phrase “Separation of Church and State†they use such a phrase in a way that is not intended and never has been intended by both the Founding Fathers or the Constitution.

History has shown the problems that come about when church and state uniteâ€â€i.e. the Middle Ages and the Roman Catholic Church. However, today the phrase favorite phrase of the minority it seems is slanted in such almost Anti-Christian slant. People should be allowed to believe not believe whatever they want but the current, seemingly, atheist agenda to take God out of everything is go far beyond the original intent and meaning of the First Amendment of the Constitution.

As for the words you mentionedâ€â€Ã¢â‚¬Å“Trinity,†and “Raptureâ€Ââ€â€it may well be true that many Christians believe such words or in the Bible, however; if one where to read the entire Bible with the desire for truth they would come to the conclusion that the word “Trinity†denotes. As for “rapture,†well perhaps if one where to study scripture they might come to the conclusion that the word “rapture†denotes.

So in closing I am not saying such phrases as “Separation of Church and Stateââ¬Â should be done away with but the definition should be changed back to its original meaning.

In 1779, Thomas Jefferson was concerned about the power of the Church of England (Romish) within Virginia. He felt a guarantee of religious freedom was the best guarantee that America would avoid the religious intolerance and religiously inspired bloodshed that had marked much of the history of Europe. He wrote an Act for Establishing Religious Freedom; after a long battle, it became law in Virginia on 1786-JAN-16. The First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution was based in part on that act.

Thomas Jefferson, as president, wrote a letter to the Danbury Baptist Association of Connecticut on 1802-JAN-1. It contains the first known reference to the "wall of separation". The essay states in part:

"...I contemplate with solemn reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,' thus building a wall of separation between Church and State..."

During the 1810's, President James Madison wrote an essay titled "Monopolies" which also refers to the importance of church-state separation. He stated in part:

"Strongly guarded as is the separation between religion and Government in the Constitution of the United States, the danger of encroachment by Ecclesiastical Bodies may be illustrated by precedents already furnished in their short history."

The US Supreme Court has interpreted the First Amendment as if it requires this "wall of separation" between church and state. It not only prohibits any government from adopting a particular denomination or religion as official, but requires government to avoid excessive involvement in religion.

Were it not for the 1st Amendment rights we would all be suffering under the iron hand of Rome. Historically documented evidence proves this.

It has nothing to do with those in government being involved in religion if they so choose and expressing it if they desire to pray at the start of their meetings. That would be denying the freedoms of the officials themselves. It has gotten so perverted that people can't do anything on government property. That was NEVER the intent.

The Consititution says what it does to prevent a forced state religion. Nobody in government is forcing anything of the kind or has tried to.

This is a free country and it needs to stay that way without the secularist stalwarts reducing our religious freedoms down to nothing.

I can't wait until God judges each and every one of us, and establishes his kingdom once and for all of eternity. No more garbage from unbelieving unregenerate man, and unity with a one on one relationship with God. As said before, "Come quickly, Lord Jesus".

Righteous in, Unrighteous out......for eternity!
