If you don't know God, don't make stupid remarks!!!!!!!

A United States Marine was attending some college courses between assignments. He had completed missions in Iraq and Afghanistan .

One of the courses had a professor who was an avowed atheist and a member of the ACLU. One day the professor shocked the class when he came in. He looked to the ceiling and flatly stated, 'God, if you are real, then I want you to knock me off this platform. I'll give you exactly 15 min.' The lecture room fell silent. You could hear a pin drop.

Ten minutes went by and the professor proclaimed, 'Here I am God. I'm still waiting.'

It got down to the last couple of minutes when the Marine got out of his chair, went up to the professor, and cold-cocked him; knocking him off the platform. The professor was out cold. The Marine went back to his seat and sat there, silently.

The other students were shocked and stunned and sat there looking on in silence.

The professor eventually came to, noticeably shaken, looked at the Marine and asked, 'What the heck is the matter with you? Why did you do that?'

The Marine calmly replied, 'God was too busy today protecting America 's soldiers who are protecting your right to say stupid stuff and act like an idiot. So, He sent me.'

:amen

How patriotic and how incredibly short-sighted a view of a God can there be? A God that uses force, fear, intimidation and manipulation to reveal His glory?

God loves His enemies just as much as He loves those who have accepted Jesus.

Rom 5:10 For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, shall we be saved by his life;

^ Better then not doing anything :lol

A Marine supposedly punching someone in the face to prove the existence of God is completely in opposition to the way God works and the way a Marine behaves.

The professor fell didn't he ;)

And what would you know about a Marine? are you military or ex-military? I am currently in the CAF and the solider depicted in the OP describes many of the soldiers i know that are Christian ,lol

Even thought the OP was a joke i think it still holds some truth, God can work through others is many different ways :yes

P.S lets not forget about Sodom and Gomorrah, The Flood, The Pillar of salt woman, Samson, King David etc etc God is not some soft flake, a punch is better then death. My :twocents

Sure. Now the professor has an excuse to hate a god that uses force to get his point across. Furthermore, had the professor not fallen in the 15 minutes he gave God would that mean that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob didn't exist?

I work with several Marines in prison ministry and in fact just email this story to one of them. I can'r say "ex-Marines" or "former Marines" because once a Marine always a Marine.

Even thought the OP was a joke i think it still holds some truth, God can work through others is many different ways :yes

There is no truth in this story. A Marine that would show so little self-control as to punch someone in the face without any provocation to his person would quickly find himself in front of a disciplinary review board.

P.S lets not forget about Sodom and Gomorrah, The Flood, The Pillar of salt woman, Samson, King David etc etc God is not some soft flake, a punch is better then death. My :twocents

John, were all of the examples you gave a result of what God promised would happen or God making those things happen? Was God responsible for the sinful behavior that led to the flood, etc.?

It's a joke.
The guy asked to be knocked off the platform. I suppose he should have asked to be lovingly removed from the platform, I don't know.

Again, it's a joke. No need to argue over this. :shame

Any more bickering and I'll start deleting posts. Enough is enough. :gah

Like I said Pam, no worries! Again, I am very sorry if I over-reacted. I'm sure you didn't mean any harm by posting what you posted.

Pam,

I found it funny as a joke.....a good one in fact! I mean if God can use a jaw bone of a donkey, why not a marine to knock a spiteful atheist off his soapbox while tempting the Lord thy God? :lol

I don't think RND knew it was a joke at first.....that's all.....we're cool girl!!! :salute
