Bible Study God Needs Us

There are many statements that are being made to people to make them feel good about themselves. These statements have been conjured up to make people feel important, worthy, and accepted. However they are very false and only spoken to keep people coming back to church because in the world today we believe and are taught that the more popular something the better it is for us.

Telling people what they want to hear rather than what they need to hear is not helping them out at all. It is in fact hurting them. Refusing to talk about the goodness of Christ is even worse. Scripture is going to show us where these teachings are wrong and then we are going to show that these things are only stated for the business of the church rather than the hopes of salvation for the souls of man.

The first one that we are going to discuss is "God needs us". No God does not need us. To be frankly honest if we think that we should be needed, then i think we need to look at the pride that we have. God is much better than to need us. This is what is so great about God. We are not worthy of anything from him, yet he opened up the door because he wants us to be a part of Him. He wants to open up to us and have a relationship with us.

The Bible states very clear that there is nothing great about man kind.

Matthew 9:10-13- And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with Him and His disciples. And when the pharisees saw it, they said unto His disciples, Why eateth your master with publicans and sinners? But when Jesus heard that, He said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy not sacrifice: for i am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

There is nothing here about man being important or needed by God. Rather it states that Jesus came to those that know they are not worthy and sick in their spiritual manners. The minds of man is wicked and against God until we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. However there is still more scrpture on this.

Genesis 6:5-7- And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imaginationof the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it greived him at his heart. And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth: both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

Once again this shows that God does not need man. He does not call upon man in repentance for any wrong doings. Rather he repents that he has to judge man and that he has made such a disobediant creation. This does not state any greatness of man.

However it does show that God does not like to have to judge us. God does not like that he has to punish us or that he had to make a place for our wickedness. This point is also stated through out the word of God.

Ezekiel 18:32- For i have no pleasure in the death of one that dieth, saith the Lord God: wherefore repent and live ye.

Romans 5:8- But God commands his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

John 3:16- For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes on him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

John 3:21- But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

This by no means states that God wants to punish us. Rather it shows the complete opposite. This shows a deep want of Gods love for us and that he has been willing to make it possible for us to come to him.

However we need to come to the realization that we are sinners and our minds and hearts are sick. That we are not worthy of this gift, but God has made it possible to obtain it. We dont have to pay for it all we need to do to receive it is put our faith in Jesus Christ and repent of our wickedness.

What does the Bible state concerning man?

Romans 3:23-For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Romans 3:10-18- As it is written, There is none righteous no not one: there is none that understand, there is none that seek after God.They are all gone out of the way they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no not onethere throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit, the poison of asps is under their lips. Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: their feet are swift to shep blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the ways of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes.

2 Timothy 3:1-5 This know also, that in the last days perilous times will come. For men shall be lovers of themselves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a farm of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

This is the truth of the gospel that is not being taught. Ladies and gentlemen these feel good teachings that people are giving dn the you will be rich with material things teachings are not saving souls. People go to semenary schools to learn these things because christianity has become a business of money and wealth more than the Lord Jesus Christ.

These pastors are not going to tell you that sin leads to death, nor are they going to tell you that Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven. They want you to come to church and sit in their pews and tithe your money and you better believe they are going to have sermons on this. But they are not going to tell you the truth of the gospel.

Brother, for a God "Who doesn't NEED us", He sure went a long way in NEVER GIVING UP on us. He sure paid a high price for us!

In going after "a bride" He has wooed her and drawn her, and given her chance after chance to come to Him...for over 6 thousand years, and He doesn't need us?! Do you need your wife? Do you need your children? I dare you tell either of them that you don't need them.

I think to tell people that they aren't needed is of no benefit or value whatsoever. Mind you, they must understand the context and way in which they are needed. There is a lot that entails our being valuable and needed by God.

He is building us "together for His habitation through the Spirit" (Eph. 2:21,22) and the "compacting together" of us is DEPENDANT upon each of us contributing our "effectual measure". (Eph. 4:16)

I think it is far more beneficial for people to understand that they ARE needed, and HOW and WHY they're needed. In the renewed mind of a true Christian..."being needed" will be looked at as not only a priviledge, but as a responsibility.

Do you think God needed Jesus? Well, He needs us the same. It doesn't hurt God's rep to NEED. He gets what He needs!

God bless. 3rdday

there is a difference in need and in want. god wants us not out of need. this is the same for a wife and children we want them not because we need them but because we want to enjoy them and the pleasures of having them around. personally i would rather be wanted than needed. need is more like you have to. want is because you love to.

god does not have to anything for any of us. he wants to because he loves us and wants us and wants what is best for us. to tell people that they are needed is to exalt them, to tell them that god wants them is to exalt god. whom we are supposed to exalt. exalting man makes man prideful and high minded. rather than if someone wants them they realize that it is not going to kill them to lose them but they would like to have them keeping them content in service.

Brother, I think where individuals like yourself misunderstand the concept of NEEDING is in not realizing how much we are A PART OF GOD. We are as much a part of God as Jesus is. We are now "members in particular" of the body of Christ. (1 Cor. 12:27)

Can you imagine Jesus not NEEDING His arm or a finger? In fact, the Scriptures say that "nor can the head say to the feet, I have no need of you." (1 Cor. 12:21) There you have the Head (Christ) not being able to say to His feet, I have no need of you.

I've heard this unbalanced version of "humility" before and it does a dishonor to what God wants to make of us and bring us to. He in fact, DOES want to exalt us "in due time". We are to be lifted up into the very Righteousness of Christ and know our place in His body and God's Kingdom.

When one is "promoted' (exalted) in a job position, it is because they have become more useful and have realized how much they are NEEDED. They have accepted it gladly and responsibly.

There is also the erroneous extension of this idea which says that if we don't fulfill our place...God will just replace us. FALSE! Saints of God...you are needed! and NO ONE CAN TAKE YOUR PLACE! You are a unique member and have a unique place in the Body of Christ.

But to really accept and understand this one needs to understand predestination and that when God draws an individual to Himself He will not lose them, but in fact will bring them to FULL salvation, complete the work He has begun in them and make them fruitful members of His Kingdom.

For God to NOT NEED US would be for Him to not need Himself. This is how much in reality...we are a part of God, born of His very seed. As God indwelt Jesus in "fulness", even so are WE now "the fulness of Him that filleth all in all". Eph> 1:23

this is a great post and true, but once again it is for people that truly accepted christ as their savior. there are many people that sit in the pews and even on christian forums that have truly not accepted christ in their heart. they go through the motion but have not a repentant heart for their sins.

it grieves me that this is true and it grieves me worse that they are not hearing a message of salvation, repentance or our need for christ in our lives. they dont hear that sin leads to death. they hear every good thing about how perfect everything they do is. but nothing about what they are doing to themselves in their sins. this is where people are being manipulated and led astray.

I certainly agree with you there, brother. This is definitely where each individual is responsible before God to be deadly serious about the state of their soul and how effective they are for God's Kingdom....no matter what a preacher says! It reminds me of a Scripture in Proverbs where it says, "a flattering mouth worketh ruin". (Pro.26:28)

A truly sincere worshipper will be careful of the flattery that comes their way, examining their own heart to know the honest truth about themselves in the Light of God's Word. There will always be those who feed on falsehoods and misplaced flattery, but they are only hurting themselves. May God "grant them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth".
