2 Peter 3: 10 – But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with great noise, and the (*)**elements will melt with (*)*fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.

The creating of a new heaven and a new earth will not be done at Jesus' second coming, but after the 1,000/millennium, at the end of the White Throne Judgment. In fact all these scripture are speaking about the same thing, creating a new heaven and a new earth.

(*)*Very hot: glowing

(*)** Any of the four substances air, water, fire

Revelation 20: 14-15, 21:1 – Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire. And I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea.

(2 Peter 3: 13) – Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

Zephaniah 1: 2-3 – “I will utterly consume all things from the face of the landâ€Â, says the Lord; “I will consume man and beast; I will consume the birds of the heaven, the fish of the sea, and the stumbling blocks along with the wicked. I will cut off man from the face of the landâ€Â. Says the Lord.

Malachi 4: 1 – “For the day is coming, burning like an oven, and all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble. And the day which is coming shall burn them up.†Says the Lord of host, that will leave neither root nor branch.

Isaiah 65: 17 – “ For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former shall not be remembered or come to mind.

God created us to ultimately share in His glory. Mankind at its best is not complete. We have not yet attained what God has planned for us. God is not done creating us, the physical creation of man is complete, but our spiritual creation will be complete when all of God’s people share in the fullness of God. When this has been accomplished all trace of the former will be totally erased; even the memory of the former things will not come to mind. God will create a new beginning, as if the first one had never existed. God also is in effect is creating a family; His family. It is not God’s plan for us to remain as we are; this body is weak, lowly, mortal, and limited, so it’s therefore falls short of what God wants for us. When all those whom God is calling into His kingdom have been gloried (including those during the millennium and those after the millennium) then, and only then will God fulfill His propose in us and through us, which also mean we will be fulfilling our purpose. Awesome, isn’t it?
