Do you think that everything that happens in our lives is a part of a master plan that God has for us?

No. But I do believe Yahweh makes everything work out for the good of His children. This of course culminates in our salvation into the Kingdom.

Why do things happen in our lives as they do?Just by chance?

yes, clearly from Scripture where somewhere it is written that before creation Psalms 139 "Yhwh scheduled all the days of our lives." (as the previous post #2 I agree- Yhwh schedules for the good of those who love Him, who keep His commandments) (and disagree - it doesn't culminate or result in our salvation all the time: see below)

For the world though, there is a catch there.

even the unrepentant sinners who are destined for destruction because they don't ever repent,
their days are scheduled also,
at first to lead them to "Godly sorrow that leads to repentance" but if they refuse, Yhwh doesn't override them. They die still subject to His Judgment.

God is very smart, and very powerful. He has the ability to carefully craft our environment so as to make us the people He wants us to be. Mere mortals like us are simply not able to fathom the thought processes of a God, so we cannot figure out with our tiny brains how all the various circumstances interact.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.

"As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9 NIV

Ecc 9:11 KJV I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.

Ok.....but what does this tell you?Things that happen in our life are just by chance?

No. You asked if everything that happens in our life is part of God's master plan. Solomon tells us that everyone is subject to chance.

But David and Paul wrote that everything is ordered by Yhwh for the good of those who Love Him. everything is scheduled, including good works scheduled for us to do, Yhwh planned before the creation of the world.

solomon was led astray by his wives, away from the One True Creator to false gods.

it may look like chance, but Yhwh is always in charge. "no coincidences" except in our minds, never in His.

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. tells me that God has his finger on everything that happens in our lives.Nothing is by chance.

It doesn't say that though. What it says is that God makes everything work for our good not that He causes everything that happens to us. There's a difference. Let me ask you a question. You're driving along on a nice Sunday afternoon with your son sitting next to you and a drunk driver blind sides you from a side street and your son is killed. Did God have his finger on that ?

Yes,God did have his finger on that.God allows tragedies to happen. He does not make them happen. We do not know why.It is His will.

I know a 7 year old girl who was being taught that God is hands on.. in complete control... to the point not only does God cause the rain but places each drop.... Nothing happens that is not His will...
Over the months this is being taught her 17 year old cousin was repeatedly raping her.

: ( Yeah it's things like this that make it clear Yahweh doesn't directly control everything.

You and I do not see eye to eye on the Word of God.I have seen this on many posts.I will not discuss this issue with you any longer. We will have to agree to disagree.

I know reba and this causes many to doubt. One of the number one questions people ask about God is why does He allow terrible things to happen.

you said she was taught that nothing happens that is not His will.. that was the error. most that happens on earth, even in churches, is not His Will.
just like in the days of noah -- it was not His Will that any should perish. He gave everyone time to join Noah. those who did were saved.

the rest drowned.

Allowing things to happen means He doesn't cause them. The thing many people misunderstand is that when bad things happen to Yahweh's people He is able to hold them up and make the bad things somehow work for our good.

God controls everything in our world.

no, He gives everyone a choice , to obey Him , or to not obey Him (at least for a time). after a time, He may give someone up to their delusion so they no longer have a choice, after they have shown themselves willfully wicked. Yhwh's choice in any case.
