Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, forthis is the whole duty of man. Eccl.12:13

God is speaking...are we listening? The first and primary role is learn to LISTEN to His voice!

I believe our primary role is to love one another. (John 13:34-35, Romans 13:8, 1 John 3:11, 1 John 3:23, 1 John 4:7, 1 John 4:11-12, 2 John 1:5)

Four responses. Four different answers. Interesting.

I would think that there is more than one answer to your question because there is more than one role Christians play in God's plan.

Just me, little (somewhat) old lady in Idaho, fulfill a varieties of roles. I am: wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, employee, teacher, volunteer and probably a couple of more things I've failed to mention. In each of these roles, I have a different set of expectations and responsibilities.

So too, do I have a variety of roles and responsibilities in God's plan. First there would be God's general call for all His children to keep His commandments, the chiefest of which is to love one another, to be workers in the harvest (meaning to spread the Gospel), to feed the hungry, and help those in need etc.

Then there would be God's plan for me, Dora, as I live out my life here in Idaho. I am His workmanship and have been saved to do good works, so it's incumbent upon me to prayerfully consider what those 'works' might be and get to them.

:crazy Wow, I'm pretty busy!

Yes Dora, and....sometimes I find that I am trying to do 'works' that I think are 'good' but God hasn't given them for me to do.
Like you say, 'to prayerfully consider what those works might be.......' :amen

John 6

Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval."

Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?"

Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent."

Yes and....AMEN! ...... :amen

A verse from the Old Testament also fits this...

Micah 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good;
and what doth the LORD require of thee, but

to do justly, and
to love mercy, and
to walk humbly
with thy God
? KJV

That Micah 6:8 verse is really it in a nutshell.
