God's Sovereignty Over Man Begins With A Name
Receiving a name by God is very important in the bible.
When God created man he named him Adam. By God naming man as Adam God was declaring his sovereignty over all of mankind. As long as Adam lived God's sovereignty would remain over all of mankind.
Additionally, after the creation and naming of man by God, God gave dominion over this world to Adam. While Adam had been given dominion over God's creation, God still retained his sovereignty as God, and could come and go as he pleased (hint: man has freewill but God has free-reign).
To show man's dominion over this world God brought each animal to Adam for him to name. God even allowed Adam to name the woman signifying Adam's dominion over the woman since she was created as a helper for Adam from Adam's own rib.
But once Adam and Eve sinned their death was assured and with it God's sovereignty over all of mankind would cease causing man to be exiled to hell along with Satan.
After Adam and Eve's sin they were both thrown out of the Garden of Eden to live a life that included the penalty of their sin, which was death. But as long as the descendants of Adam continued to live the 'first born' of each succeeding generation of Adam were entitled to receive the sovereignty of God that was first bestowed upon Adam (hint: God's Covenant with man).
While sin continued to cause each successive generation of Adam to die, the continuation of God's sovereignty was extended down throughout history to the 'first born male' until the one true 'righteous sinless descendant' of Adam was born. This 'sinless descendant' of Adam was Jesus Christ, who is God's own son.
Jesus Christ was the first sinless descendant after Adam that would extend God's sovereignty over mankind even after death. As Jesus Christ would became sin for man on the cross thereby allowing God's sovereignty to be extended over man even after death hence rescuing man from a fate of eternal damnation with Satan in hell.
As long as the 'first born' of every succeeding generation of Adam remained alive God's sovereignty was extended and continued until the true sinless descendant of Adam arrived, which is Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ ultimately took God's sovereignty of mankind back to heaven along with all those who believed in Jesus Christ.
If you want to be included in the sovereignty of God and inherent an everlasting existence in heaven with God then just believe in Jesus Christ who died on the cross sinless and was resurrected back to heaven to extend God's sovereignty over mankind even after death. Once in heaven every believer in Jesus Christ will be given a new name thereby God will establish his sovereignty over each individual giving us a reassurance of an existence with God forever!
Notice that God told Joseph and Mary what name to give to God's son, Jesus Christ. By God naming his own son Jesus Christ, God was declaring that his son was under the sovereignty of God just like the sinless Adam was given his name by God after being created. Both Jesus Christ and Adam were given their name by God, as sinless beings, thereby God was declaring his sovereignty over both of them.
God Bless
note:
God's covenant with man, both the New Covenant and Old Covenant, was a way to protect the succeeding generations of Adam from being killed by Satan thereby ending God's sovereignty over mankind. The 'first born' of Adam's lineage had to be extended by another 'first born' or else God's sovereignty would cease and God's son Jesus Christ would not have appeared on this earth. God's son had to be born under the sovereignty of God which had to be through the line of Adam.
Amen
