Has anyone used this social media product from Google? And if so, have you been using it prior to the recent change? And if so, has the change made you use it more or less?

Personally I think it is a bit more cumbersome to use than the previous iteration.

Thoughts?

My email adress is googlemail, so I kinda have google+ although I never used it. I was too lazy to figure ou how to deactivate it.
It's scary. It keeps suggesting friends I've know 10 years ago but haven't seen/ googled/ heard of/ or even thought of in all those years, so how does google know I know those people.

It generally goes off of email addresses in your gmail account. You don't even have to have them in your contacts list, just that you have actually sent them an email once.

I, too, have a number of suggestions coming from google+ about people I have emailed in the past, but I ignore those suggestions.

You could, conceivably, put them into a specific "circle" so the system will stop suggesting them, but it really doesn't mean anything.

Yeah, I have G+ set up, and yeah, I used it before this horrific change. I'm thinking of ditching it now, it's clunky and ugly and makes no logical sense.
