Students Chalk Gospel Of John Across US School

A group of students at Western Kentucky University (WKU) shared their faith in March by covering the campus sidewalks in the entire Gospel of John — all 879 verses!

The team of some 65 to 70 students joined together on the evening of March 10 at the WKU campus to write the entire Gospel of John across the campus — a public university — and completed their mission in just a few hours, according to Fox News. The initiative was spearheaded by Baptist Campus Ministry (BCM) and involved members of other Christian campus groups, as well as Campus Crusade for Christ and Hilltoppers for Christ.

The idea apparently came from students at other universities, who shared their activities in chalk writing the Gospel on social media, Fox added. Do we have a new trend on our hands?

Their chutzpah if glorious, LoL. Not sure what the heathen will make of it, but it sure makes a statement doesn't it. :thm

Personally, I think that just the gospel is sufficient. I honestly can't imagine anyone reading the entire account of the book of John on a sidewalk. But certainly a good effort. From the pictures it doesn't seem that the effort is getting much reading and by making it such a long and drawn out work, then most, if not all, are going to miss the really important part.

I also hope they did it for the right reason - to give glory to God and not to themselves.

The glory will come God no matter who or why , the Word .

Isaiah 55:11 Context

8For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. 10For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: 11So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. 12For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. 13Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.

From one of the links in the OP .

Around 65-70 Christian students spent Monday night into Tuesday morning hunched over the central campus sidewalk, dirtying their hands with chalk while writing the entire 879 verses of the Gospel of John.

All 21 chapters were written in around two and a half hours by the Baptist Campus Ministry (BCM), Cru and Hilltoppers for Christ (HFC). Chapter one was written just outside of Grise Hall, and chapter 21 was completed near the Preston Health and Activities Center. After writing and drawing, the group prayed for WKU’s students and faculty at Centennial Mall.

BCM Vice President and mechanical engineering senior Luke Alford said a BCM alumni member came up with the idea from other universities on social media and advised BCM leadership to do something similar. It was then approved by WKU Student Activities.

When we do something for God,,,the glory always goes to God.

My thought, instead, was this:
Let's hope there is no repercussion...
If so, we've lost our balance of justice.
