Grandparents, Fond memories of

For some reason I just remembered a funny incident, with my grandfather, on my birthday (as a boy). He bought me a water colour paint set with Japanese brushes. The brushes had Japanese symbols on them. I said "Look Opa (grandpa) the brushes have Japanese writing on them". He puts on his glasses and pretends to speak Japanese. I said "Can you speak Japanese?" He said with a smile "Of course I can". "Then what does it mean" I said curiously. He said, "Wash brushes after use".

Yes, in Sydney. However, all records are overseas and much was lost during the wars over there. Have paid money to websites which access all sorts of registrars (births, deaths, churches, Cantons, Provinces, electoral, etc). There are names of same spelling. However, when I get to see various genealogical charts, there is no branch with my grandparents name on them.
I.meant to record your history. They do that here.

My surname is easily connected to savannah, ga and its well known to include a street name.
Your lucky to be so famous :biggrin2
Mine is so rare it was the only name in Australia until about ten years ago. (Though not directly related, on some other distant branch).

It's actually a rare name ,found only in parts of america and all are kin.

Two brothers are the source of this, but i dont want to derail this on my surname.
