Hello everyone! I'm Amelia, a freshman in college and a Christian on fire for Christ! (hence the display name) ;). I look forward to getting to know you all! :-D

"on fire for Christ!"
I remember when I was newly saved. In Salt Lake City. And on fire too. Went places mature christians wouldn't go without at least a little preparation. Got beat up a time or three (not in the literal sense) but I must say there is DEFINATELY something to be said about being on fire for Christ! :-D
Ah, the stories I could tell. :D

Anyway:
Welcome to 123 Amelia!!!
:smt039

Thank you for the welcome! :-D
I can definitely relate to that "beaten up" feeling. I live in a rather...not-so-religious (to put it rather lamely lol) area, so not too many people share my love of Christ. :sad Hopefully, though, I can make a difference in peoples' lives by letting them see Christ work in me. :D
Nice to meet you!

Thanks! :D In Christ, all things are new. ;-) It's nice to meet you! (sorry--the rhyming was unintentional)

Hello there.

I'm glad the Lord Jesus has led you into this forum.

This place will either strengthen you or break you.
Stand firm in Jesus Christ, KNOW YOUR BIBLE, and be careful.
Walk circumspectly.

This is a great place to be challenged.

Thanks! I've read through the Bible 3 or 4 times now, but I have issues with memorizing verses, lol. Does anyone have tips that could help?

I'm sure there are tips for memorizing. In time you will become familiar with doctrines and themes and will begin to remember reading verses and passages as they relate to what is being discussed.

A good Bible software program with word search and/or a good Concordance will aid in becoming more familiar with verses and passages and in turn, will help in memorizing also.

My problem is I'll remember something said in the Bible, and I won't know the verse.  And sometimes I remember a paraphrase of a verse, so it gets hard to find lol. I appreciate the advice.

Just read the New Testament (KJV is best) every day. Now, just my saying this, will probably unleash a flurry of anger, but, oh well.

READ THE BIBLE EVERY DAY. Get bible verses sent to you via email, too. Tape bible verses on the walls of your house, in your car, on your mirrors, on the refrigerator, in your books. Immerse yourself in the bible, and eventually, it will all stick in your mind and heart.

Thank you very much for the advice. :D I do appreciate it. Though I am Catholic, I am a Christian and I am very glad I have fellow friends in Christ like you to turn to for advice, because I know Protestants on a whole are better at quoting Scripture than most Catholics (at least those I know personally). It is good for us to know Scripture and know it thoroughly--it is the only way we can grow in Christ. Those are actually very good ideas, and I will try to use them. ;) Thank you very much and God bless you for your help! :D

You're quite welcome. I'm sure, that, as you learn more and more Scripture, you will
benefit greatly.

The Old Testament says to teach your children the bible when you wake up, and all through the day.

When I was first born again, I plastered the whole inside of my house with bible verses.
IT REALLY "paid off".

A good place to start, for memorizing verses that you can apply to your life, right this minute, is
John.
Just type up some verses, cut them out, and tape them up here and there.
Eventually, you'll have THOSE memorized, and you can put up NEW ones.
It's really fun. Challenge yourself. You have a good mind, I'm sure, so, use it, fill it to capacity with N.T. bible verses.
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2The same was in the beginning with God.

3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

4In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

5And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

6There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

7The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

8He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

9That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

10He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

11He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

12But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

13Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

14And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Ooh! John is my favorite Gospel! :-D I will definitely take your advice. Thank you very much for your help! :D God bless!

Biblereader is correct.

A good place to start is John.

John 1:1 will come to you almost naturally, especially after debat, I mean :-D , discussing the Trinity and Jesus' Deity.

John 14:6 will come to you quickly as you encounter those who say there are many ways to God

"I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father expect through me."

John 3:16 will be a "gimme" . 8-) That's the Gospel all wrapped up in one verse. (don't forget to memorize v.17 too!)

Hi Amelia and welcome I trust you will feel at home and settle in. Remember we are all family although some of us are a bit  but hey God made us all and He loves us all so :-D and enjoy.

God Bless
Julia

lol, thanks for the warning. :D I sometimes can be a little  myself, but I like to think of it as Christ's love making me go crazy.  Maybe it's a common phenomenon here as well! :-D

Hey everyone!
I haven't been on here in the longest time because of school, but now that I finished all my exams and now am on summer vacation, I hope to be on here more often with all you folks! :-D
In Christ,
Amelia
