I pose these questions because it seems that church is where I personally experience the most handshakes. We recently had the county Sheriff (an elected position) come and talk to our youth on a Wed. night and I noticed he offered a fistbump instead of a handshake. I know that some germaphobes (such as Howie Mandel) prefer the fistbump to a handshake. I personally don't care if I am offered a fistbump instead of a handshake, even though I offer a handshake myself.
So do you prefer one over the other?
Does the gender of the recipient affect the decision between a fistbump/handshake?
Do you have a standard choice between the two or is it a decision made on a case by case basis?
If you prefer the fistbump is it because of the sanitary reasons or the "cool factor"?
