Something I sent out to my group yesterday.

Today I turn 21 again. I don't really celebrate my birthday and for myself I don't hold store that it might be a biggy like 18th/21st/50th and so on.

I do however like to reflect on my birthday. I think about the year just gone and what the next year holds in store. I think about May 14th 1968 through the years to May 14th 20xx.

You won't know this but I was never planned, my mum fell pregnant at a young age and out of wedlock which for a Muslim family was very shameful. I was meant to be aborted but this never happened and my mum was forced to marry my father (before I was born) who turned out to be an alcoholic, wife beater.

This deeply affected our relationship. I was a mistake, I ruined her life and so on and to be perfectly honest she ruined my life. Praise God though, he has restored our relationship, when we meet up or talk we always end with 'love you'.

So what is my point, why am I spending my birthday doing this e-mail?

I subscribe to verse of the day on my Bible app. As I am typing now I am very emotional because the following was my verse(s) for the day (side note picture to follow so you can see it for yourself)

Psalms 139:13-14

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.

It reminded me that from the beginning of time that God ordained on the 14th May 1968 I would be born, I was not a mistake, it was he who said let there be life, it was he who gave me my first breath. This is true for us all, for the whole world. No God, no breath- no breath, no life.
Where there is breath there is life, where there is life there is no mistake.

I have heard and even been asked the question and even asked the question myself, "Why did God create me?" The person asking the question usually has the answer formulated in their head and it usually negative, along the lines of "I'm a miserable sinner, waste of space, not lovable"

So why did God create us? Was it to do good works? Was it to be the best we can be? The answer is no, things like this are secondary.

The primary reason God created us is because he loves us, he wants a relationship with us, he wants to spend the rest of eternity with us. This is for every person that he has created, who are alive today and who will be born up till the time when Jesus comes back.

He loves us so much he came to us, died for us and rose again to restore that relationship he longs for with us.

In his eyes we are never a waste of space, we were never a mistake, we are lovable, in fact the bible tells us that he loved us first. Nothing can ever separate us from the love of God.

When we get it wrong he loves us and when we get it right he loves us. That love is constant, it does not waver and it does not change.

Psalms 119:73
Your hands made me and formed me; give me understanding to learn your commands.

Jeremiah 1:5(a)
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Ephesians 2:10
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

Psalms 86:15
But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God,
slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.

Romans 5:8
But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

John 17:22-23
“I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one. I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me.
