Happy Father's Day

Ah! Fathers, i would not be here if it weren't for mine  God bless them.

How many of us are fathers? Have we emulated our own fathers or changed some things ?

My Dad's values no longer fit today's society. Not at all. Just one example:
He taught me to address my elders as Mr. and Mrs. or even Miss as in the case of a single woman.
Titles of respect dropped long ago.

Happy Father's Day to you all!

My mom and dad got divorced many years ago. My mom has a habit of telling me, "You're just like your father."

I say to her... "Thank you!". :)

Happy Father's Day to the Daddy's here!!!!

I hope that somehow (by the grace of God) that respect toward each other and that respect for what it means to be a positive role "model" in someone's life is brought back to life even more so than it was "back in the day". That doesn't go to show that there isn't any of that happening now! We all know that there are many good men today from which to draw exemplary role models from. Good Christian and non-Christian men alike. God's goodness will prevail from out of that which seems to be a lost cause. Sadly, I didn't have a good male role model in my life as I was growing up. Most of the "good" role models that I had were those that I had seen on the TV shows Father Knows Best, and Leave it to Beaver, and Donna Reed show and those types of TV role models. Surely, there was a type of "perfection" in those role models that were hard to live up to as far as I saw back then. Most of the men I remember in my life as a small child were NOT very good ones. Sorry to say. But I knew from my second grade catechism classes in Catholic school that Jesus was the ONLY one who wouldn't let me down! and I knew that there were some good role models out there, but those guys only came from the "upper class, the rich people". Isn't that amazing? Wow, come to think of it, back in the early 60's I didn't see that many good role models except a few well to do people around the neighborhood. Many of the men hung out in bars and drank after they got off of work, to go home drunk and pass out. either that or they were just bumpkins who hung out on the streets with nothing to do but get in trouble, stealing cars, or just hangin out. Not much different than those gangs in the movie West side story! WOW! I really did come from the "inner" city! Don't get me wrong.. there were some good people that were there. But I sure didn't see much of it! Even the priests and the nuns in my school were "mean"! Well, if I were to count the good men in my life that were of a "good" role model? I'd say that I could only count a few, not much more. Sad, isn't it?

Well, I sure do HOPE that the "CHRISTIAN" men here are better prepared to BE A GOOD ROLE MODEL whether they are a daddy, or not! :smt023

Wow Vic,
My mom used to say that to my brother too!
He didn't say anything back to her!

I once worked for a company with a lady in the accounts department who was like my mother. I told her one day that she reminded me of my mum ... she smiled. Until I added 'but I left home!'

I go to church, like my dad did, and still does, at 80.
I also read bible prophecy, voraciously, like his dad did.

Do it anyways. It sounds good, and "classy", and who cares if people don't do that?
Do it anyways!

I still call some people Mr, or Mrs. NEVER address them by their first name, especially if they are a lot older.
