Well the blitzcreig is over.
Last night after work I baked a cake, home made caramels, home made rolls and bread and tempered some chocolate so I could dip some cordials I had made.
Then this morning I cut the caramels, made the icing and decorated the cake with orange segments.
Then I drove for 90 minutes to my parents house and cooked a complete spread for Thanksgiving from Turkey to asparagus and had it all ready by 2.
The turkey got a nice bake on it and the dressing was okay. The taters were a bit stiff....but I was under the gun so to speak.
All the while listening to my mother claim I couldn't cook while she shoveled in a huge plate of food that she gummed in because she refuses to put in her teeth.
There are times when I wonder why I bother...but everyone else enjoyed it all.
My son loved his orange marmalade cake with the cream cheese icing and segments from clementines. (And a shot of Gran Marnier in the marmalade)
He just turned 21 and so I had a booze theme for him this year without a lot of actual booze.
