Harry Potter

I just finished reading the last Harry Potter book and I think that it was really good. I thought that the ending was real good even though it was still sad that some of the main characters died. It's okay though because I mean it would make it unrealistic if all of them lived. Overall it was a rally good book and I'm sad that it's the last book.

I think the books are very well written form a literay viewpoint. I know there is a lot of talk because its about wizards etc but people need to remember that its childrens fantasy no different from the super heroes like Superman etc.

God bless

I picked up the first harry potter book last year and read it. I was surprised that i actually enjoyed it.
I don't usually like that type of book and I only bought it from a charity shop. I have since read the second one, and thoroughly enjoyed that.
J K Rowling writes very well and i am now looking forward to the next one now, whitch i have on my shelf waiting.

I always advise people not to read these books. The author did research into the occult to make things more realistic. But that's my 2 cents

I've read them all I like them. I know there's a lot of real occult names and spells within them, but I also have serious doubts that GOD will send anyone to hell just for reading Harry Potter. It's fantasy just like The Lord of the Rings or The chronicles of Narnia, but no church groups attack them why? The authors are Christian. We cant go around condemning all things non-christian that's just more fuel for the fire of anti-Christians.

I read the first and the second ones so far, and I haven't found anything more mystical or magical than anything in the Narnia series. They aren't like cookbooks for magic or anything and you don't have to "go to the dark side" to read them. They are classic struggles of good-versus-evil and popular-versus-ordinary. I've liked them a lot, which is embarrassing to me because before I read them, I thought they were awful books, mostly because of what other Christians said about them. Later, I found out these other Christians had never read the books but felt free to criticize them anyway.

Eh. They're ok. I don't think they were extremely well-written or that she utilized enough of the things she created. I would much prefer to read Narnia again. :-D

Then she did rather poor research.
I've read stories from the 1920's and 30's that had more detail and insight then Harry Potter.

I enjoy the Harry Potter Books. They are enjoyable works of fiction.

Having had a friend who was into witchcraft and seeing some of the actual spells used.....I really did not see much relation to the occult other than the latin root of words for the spells. Not being a big fan of wizardry, magic, or the like...I was still able to enjoy the books.

Love Lord Of The Rings more though.

I'm slightly torn on Harry Potters.

The only depth I truly see in the books is with the character Snape. His character is fantastic.

I was annoyed with the ending of the 7th. She pulled a cheap literary trick and the ending was *very* cheesy.

Plus, I disliked how with the ending of the 6th book she left nothing to question. She was great with that with the other books. With the 6th you knew what needed to happen. And you knew what would most likely happen to not annoy her followers. Romances? You knew who they'd end up with by the end of the 6th. Nothing to question.

Characters died? They weren't central characters.

And...Harry as a character annoys me. I agree with Snape a lot about Harry. He's an arrogant, self-centered, emotional guy. The ego in general of Gryffindor House is ridiculous. "I did this brave act even though it was entirely stupid and I got out of it due to sheer luck, I deserve House points!"

I loved these books until the 7th...Then I looked at them more...
