Have you converted anyone to Christianity?

A lot of people around here diss the Muslims and Hindus etc as hellbound and ignorant of True Religion....

I can understand that, for Christianity can be taken as exclusivistic if you dont dig deeper to see Christ working in hearts of man rather that just through professed creeds......

To be saved you have to have the correct Theology!

But anyways.... have you been personally responsible for "turning" a hellbound Muslim or Jew to the Christian Truth?

Again you miss the point. No true Christian would ever claim to be "responsible" for converting a non-Christian. The Holy Spirit does that work.

:D :D

You dont have to be pious and humble around ol' Soma!

You know what I mean!!!!

Your whole forum life is geared/directed at Christian Apologetics in order to "convert" the masses of hellbound Muslims and New Agers to the Truth of Fundamentalist Protestantism.

OK.....

Let me refrase this since it all has to be so technical around here with you apologists.....

Have you ever been the PRIMARY INSTRUMENT with which the HOLY SPIRIT used to convict a pagan/Jew/Hindu of his false religion in order to be CONVERTED to modern day Protestant paradigms on religion?

Is that better?[/b]

Still don't get it do you? How could any human be the PRIMARY INSTRUMENT for a conversion?

:)

Don't be pedantic, Gary, you know what he means.

Me, no. I have never been a person that God has used as a means of introducing and familiarizing a non-believer to Christianity. (Does that phrasing work for you, Gary?)

God draws... only God can

Have I seen God's work of calling and conversion? Many, many times. All praise and glory is to Him.

There are many sides to Christian conversion, involving illumination, regeneration, faith, and repentance.

It is a sovereign work of God performed by the power of the Holy Spirit. Being called, "brought to faith", "converted" is seen in Romans 1:6; Romans 8:28-30; Romans 9:24; 1 Corinthians 1:24-26; 1 Corinthians 7:18-21; Galatians 1:15; Ephesians 4:1-4; and 2 Thessalonians 2:14.

In "calling" God quickens the dead... to faith in Christ. Some read about Jesus Christ, others hear about Him through preaching. Others need the Bible and the "Good News" explained to them; BUT..... It is the Holy Spirit (NOT men) who enlightens and renews the heart of elect sinners so that they understand the gospel and embrace it as truth from God, and God in Christ becomes to them an object of desire and affection. Being now regenerate and able by the use of their freed will to choose God and the good, they turn away from their former pattern of living to receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and to start a new life with him. (Refer to "Concise Theology - A guide to historic Christian beliefs" by J.I. Packer http://www.geocities.com/gary_bee_za/packer/index.html )

We are "born again" and as Jesus taught Nicodemus in John 3:1-8, we are "born of the Spirit."

Have I witnessed God's work in these conversions? Many times!... scores of times since Dec 1999 when I was "born again." I have seen atheists (I was one for over 30 years), agnostics, lapsed Roman Catholics, practicing Roman Catholics, Muslims, New Agers... even a Jew... come to saving faith and a true, living and growing relationship with our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

As Jesus said: "You must be born again. The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."

Do you understand it?

But you don't know what Gary means. ;-)

I give up....

Obviously all the blogs you post Gary are of little use if you are not an instrument in converting souls!

You are wasting your time!

Of course I wonder how you side step this verse?

14How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not HEARD? And how can they HEAR without someone PREACHING to them? 15And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"[g]

Without men as "instruments" to "convert" the masses through dialogue and preaching..... THERE WOULD BE NO CONVERTS ACCORDING TO MAINSTREAM CHRISTIANITY!!!!

But dont take it from me.... Take it from Paul in Romans!

But to all others who spend countless hours blogging and preaching to friends and strangers........

HAVE YOU EVER ACTUALLY BEEN THE PRIMARY INSTRUMENT TO CONVERT A HINDU JEW PAGAN MUSLIM ETC.......??????

Love that phrase...Protestant paradigms. :-D Well, no one who goes around trying to convert to modern day Protestant paradigms on religion will have much luck I'm afraid. I try to keep it simple - stick to preaching Jesus Christ and Him crucified. But to answer the question, I hope I've been a light that God has used to turn someone to Himself. You never know who you can impact simply through your actions. I don't deny that we do have a responsibility to preach the word and to be a witness. I just want to be an arrow that points to Jesus, through the light that He has given me. Like Gary said, all the glory goes to Him.

We can't do anything, but love the Lord and he does all the work. Love is the invisible thread that binds us all together especially if we are on the spiritual path. Therefore, know love, and love will appear in the form necessary for our experience. Everything that happens in our experience happens as an activity of God’s love, but unless we are conscious of His love it is of no benefit to us. We can have a bank account with millions of dollars and be homeless because we are not aware of it. We must know God’s love, be consciously aware of it, remind ourselves of it and make it a conscious activity in our thoughts. Then we can bring it forth into manifestation so we can give it to Muslims, Jew, Hindus and yes Christians who need it. Christian spirituality (http://thinkunity.com)can help one spread love to others without being condescending.
