Have you driven a Ford lately?

Perhaps this has already been discussed here and I missed it.

Its news to me.

Gee - they seek to sell cars on TV - who knew!?!?

Deliberately missing the point, are we?

Not at all - Ford is a BUSINESS - they are not the church!

I do not except non-Christians to behave in Christian manners.

Gee - FORD wants to sell cars, and is looking for a niche in the market to promote their cars. What do you except a business to do?

I have boycotted buying Ford's for a number of reasons; one of which is their support of the homosexual lobby.

I expect them to expect a back-lash when they promote immorality.

Of course, if we are all as complacent as you appear in this post, it won't affect their business model.

Is there any place you do stand firm?

Sorry, if I do not look to Ford to be the bearer of standards. I expect the church to do that.

What I find interesting is that you have gone from stating that Ford targets homosexuals in their ad campaigns to now "promoting immorality". Unless I missed it, where are they PROMOTING?

I do not expect businesses to be the standard bearer for morality - especially business that are not owned by Christians.

Boycott Ford - are you also going to Boycott those OTHER organizations that receive money from Ford? What about other car manufactures that might use a Ford product? Do you boycott NASCAR that allows Fords to race?

F.O.R.D :-D

Oh and yes Christians should take a stand for this type of promotion. We stood together when they banned Cigarette commercials seven years ago, because they were promoting them to kids. Did we boycott Nascar? No I still see the Marlboro and Camel car. That's besides the point and an overdrawn conculsion to the center of the matter. Will I stop working on my buddies car because he own's a Ford??? NO! It just means to clean your promotion up. If a large company must lower itself DOWN to sell cars by promoting homosexuality, there is a problem. And more to the problem are those that are willing to accept this and do nothing but sit at their PC and say... So!

Did you visit the link? Maybe you missed it.

Ford does more than try to sell cars to homosexuals.

As for the church being the bearer of standards...of course.

How about getting on board?

STAND FIRM!

Yeah - looked at the website. I like how they not only describe the homosexual activity, but they actually provide a link to the actual scene so you can watch it.

Gee - isn't that in a way promotion? Let me make this clear - I did not actually "liked it" - rather that was meant to be sarcastic!

Also, I do not see - but maybe they do - where they are boycotting FX - which isn''t that owned by Fox? Which owns the Fox News Network - the conservative voices friend?

So - let me get this straight - Robert Murdoch who owns Fox News which promotes conservative values (one of them being, I suppose - "family values"") also owns FX which makes it money by showing shows like Nip/Tuck and Dirt - to name two.

Why is it an ""overdrawn conculstion to the center of the matter""?

Because you are taking one thing (that happens to be the problem) and drawing conculsions around that. Why don't we do this? Why don't we do that, and while we are at it why not do this? It's an overdrawn conclusion to the promotion itself of homosexuality.

Which was the point of Christian Soldier's post. He's part of the church.

Okay - so at what point do you compromise?

Boycott Ford. And all Ford products. And also business that do business with Ford.

Here is my point - boycotts are not an effective means to change behavior. As a Christian, I should uphold moral standards in my life first. Make sure that there is not a log in my eye.

I do not expect non-Christians to live up to Christian standards. Should I be offended because a non-Christians cusses? No.

Should I be offended that a non-Christian owned company advertises on non-Christian TV shows? No!

Preach the Gospel! That is what will change hearts which will in turn effect morals!

Oh... so we should boycott Ford because they place Ads on shows that have homosexual themes - but it is okay if NASCAR makes money off of Ford or vice versa. It is okay that FX makes the show, just as long as Ford doesn't advertise on it.

I guess it is okay that Robert Murdoch makes money off of shows on FX, and at the same time has a conservative news channel. I guess that balances it out?

Geeesshhh.... I guess you guys are happy to compromise.

vic C. said:
Are you sure about that? I've seen some effectual boycotts in my life.

But did they change behavior? Did they change the ''heart'' - or did a business realize that it needed to make it's money somewhere else or in another way - I do not consider that as ''changing moral behavior'' - just changing the business plan.

Did the owners of the business or the stock holders become Christian as a result of the boycott?

Is it Nascar promoting homosexuality? Why go after Nascar? What's you line of thinking? I'm trying to understand you.. It's boycotting FORD and their promotion on homosexuality.. NOTHING MORE!!! You are drawing (looking) to much into it. If I boycotted my local hospital for doing something immoral, will I never go there again if let's say I were to have a heart attack? No! You are talking in terms of making money off a company. This is where your posts are coming from in your thought process. You already mentioned it twice, so I ask you a question.

Is it okay for a company to so something immoral to make a buck?

Sure they are. The love of money is the root of all evil. Hit 'em where it hurts.

YES!

When the content of the advertisement is offensive - YES!
