I've always wanted to try fasting, like not eat for a week, but still drink water otherwise I think I would probably faint

So have YOU ever fasted? What was it like?

Hi there and welcome to the forums! Yes, I have been fasting since I was seven: it is not very pleasant without water. I also went without any food for six days in a row, I've been told that this can be dangerous especially when you lead an active life (I carried on my cardio and weight training) I wont be doing that again! :)

It is up to you how strict your fast is but I have read that you should not fast for more than 3 days without food, of course you can go for longer but it is not advised as the last thing Christ would want is for you to put your health at risk. My advice to you would be to start with a one day fast and drink plenty of water and possibly include some fruit or vegetable. Remember also that the fast will be useless unless you spend some time in pray.

That sounds like some sound advice, Ali. I've done some small fasting myself, but the Lord has been putting it on my heart to do something a little more for him. Joy, I am glad you desire to serve the lord this way, it's impressive at such a young age. :)

Fasting is a great way for God to really do wonders in your life. I fasted for a week and only drank milk (for the vitamins and such) But yea fasting will draw you near to God in ways that you wouldn't know possible. When i fasted i prayed that God would draw near to me. The whole reason for fasting is meditation, and prayer. So yea deff. i think fasting is great
