Have you been to the Holy Land? Share your thoughts about the experience here. Was it what you imagined? Was it the experience you hoped it would be? Did you feel close to Christ?

one need go to Jerusalem to feel close to Christ. Not that doing that is a sin or bad.As a jew It would be like going home and learning of my heritage. King David and all the Hebrews are family to me and thus I look at the tanach from that angle too.

I certainly agree. I personally found the experience amazing, such a historical and spiritual experience overall.

On some of our trips, we had the advantage of spending time with a distant relative of my wife, who lives in Jerusalem and had both her chilfren in thr IDF at the time. She had been in the IDF during the 1967 war and gave us a tour of what where the changing front lines of that war around the city. It wa a perspective we were glad to have. It's also neat getting to know in person someone who had once been only a name on a family ancestry chart.

It is certainly different from western lifestyle considering everyone in Israel needs to serve in the IDF (national defence). It does change something culturally and seeing all of the young people in army uniforms is telling. It left a feeling in me that peace is a long way away still...

Greetings,

I have always wanted to take a trip to the Holy Land, but I have not been able to. I would love to see the places I read about in the Bible. It would help (I believe) give me a more clear understanding of some of these places that are mentioned. I always wanted to lay on the dead sea, be baptized in the Jorden river, see the temple mount, take a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee, walk up on the Mount of Olives, walk the via del rosa and take bike ride through the country. Maybe some day if God willing.
